Police in Bangkok have announced the arrest of two men who were admin for online groups organizing street bike racing gangs.

Charged yesterday with inciting youth to commit illegal activity was 23 year old Ekachai Liangraksa. He was an admin member of two online groups one of which was called "Wai Run Norn Chao" (Teenagers who sleep in the morning).

Surachet Hakpan of the 191 police said that Ekachai was organizing gangs to meet at night for illegal street racing in the Bang Seu, Suthisan and Viphawadee Rangsit areas.

Ekachai's arrest followed that of another man called Patrawut Jaengkrajang, 20. He was apprehended in Din Daeng on a warrant after a large group of teen street racers were rounded up in the Viphawadee area at Songkran.

Chief Surachet said that street racers - sometimes as many as 200 at a time - were causing considerable trouble to the public. In addition there were accidents and even deaths of the riders.

He said that the police would use powers set out by the ruling military government to prosecute parents who allowed their children to go out at night and engage in street racing.
