Hi all.
Im slighty confused on how many extensions i can have on my current visa exemption. I was initially given 30 days on arrival which i then extended by 30days at chonburi. The extension stamp is until 2nd of may 2017.
Does this mean i can leave on the 2nd of may? Or before the 2nd of may?
Can i get a further extension? Im also legally married in thailand if this helps?
If i have to leave thailand, after how long can i re enter?

On or before the 2nd of May.

You cannot get another 30 day extension.

Some immigration offices will do a 60 day extension to visit your wife after the 30 day extension. You would have to check with your local office to see if they would do it.

You are a little late to do anything other than leave on the 2nd. Immigration will be closed tomorrow for the labor day holiday.

The only certain extension you could get on Tuesday is 7 days after paying 1900 baht for an extension and then you would be granted 7 days to leave the country.

You have to leave Thailand by the "admitted until" date of the extension.

You cannot have a second 30 day extension.

Doing a same day "out-in" border bounce is possible if you have the required proof of funds and a ticket out of Thailand within the 30 allowed on a visa exempt entry, however if you have done a foot crossing before you may get questioned.

Mentioning you have a Thai wife may get a "get the proper visa for marriage" response from the immigration officer.

So my admitted until date is the 2nd of may, im correct in thinking i can leave on the 2nd? Or does this mean i have to leave on the 1st?
Ive only ever done 1 border run in the past on a tourist visa. What proof of funds do i need? How much etc?

You can leave on the 2nd.

I have seen no recent reports of the 10k baht financial proof being needed at a border crossing for a visa exempt entry recently.

Where about are you thinking of doing the visa run.

are you aware that you could get a multi entry non o with no proof of funds if you went to savannakhet, this would give you unlimited 90 day entries until the visa expiry date.

At poipet im only 20 mins frm the border as im staying at my wifes place in aranyaprathet. Last time i did a border run i had no problems in terms of the io asking me about funds or a ticket, but that was using a tourist visa.

Thanks for clearing that up ubonjoe.

In the past ive read you have to to leave thailand for 30days before being allowed to enter again on a visa exemption, im guessing they have scrapped that now?

How many back to back visa exemptions are allowed now?

At land border crossings you are only allowed 2 visa exempt entries per calendar year since a new regulation went into effect on January 1st.

Since that rule went into effect they have eased off on any restrictions they had on doing  avisa exempt entry since after 2 you are done for the year.

How about if you have a tourist visa? I would prefer to go to Penang and cross back into Thailand by land but I've heard they want to see 20,000 baht at the border. I'd prefer just to show them my bank book which has more than enough in it.

A tourist visa entry requires 20k baht financial proof. They want to see the equivalent of 20k baht in case or travelers checks.

For visa exempt it is 10k baht.

Any recent reports of them actually demanding to see cash or TCs at the Malaysian border? I know they don't ask to see it at the Laos border.

You mean 2 visa exempts per year at land crossing only? But they have eased off if you fly into the airport everytime?

I did not mention anything about entries by air. No changes by air.

I would try somewhere other than Poipet, because they are the worst crossing in Thailand.  Maybe with the new "2 land-border maximum" rule, they will do it now hassle-free - but if you go to Ban Laem or Ban Packard (the crossings further South), that would be a better bet for no hassles.

Note that if you do this, you can not cross a land-border into Thailand Visa-Exempt again until 2018.  You could still enter with a Tourist Visa obtained at a consulate abroad, however.
