Hello,

My UK passport is running out of pages but the passport is valid until 2020.

Do I have to get a new passport from the embassy in Bangkok?

Is there an outreach consulate service in the NE of Thailand?

You will have to apply in Bangkok at the Trendy building where VFS accepts the applications.

Go through the steps here for info. https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

You will get 10 years and 9 months of validity on your new passport since your passport will still be valid when you apply for it.

As of about a week ago you can apply online if you are in the UK. If in Thailand then it is as below

Making your application

You must apply in person. If you’re unable to, someone else can go on your behalf. You must bring photo ID with you.

Bring original supporting documents and a colour photocopy of each one. The original documents will be returned to you.

You must also bring your current passport with you when you apply, and a full colour photocopy of the entire passport (every page including blank pages).

You can’t travel with it after you’ve applied for a new one - but you will be able to keep your existing passport for ID purposes.

You’ll need to book an appointment by email. Include your first name and last name and 3 alternative dates and times. You will receive an email confirming your appointment.

Not the embassy, no. You'll need to download the guide and application from the site, complete and then arrange an appointment with VFS (the same firm that does UK visas) in Sukhumvit Soi 13 (the Trendy Building). They'll check then send everything off to the UK. You also collect the new document from them.

You will also get some extra months on the new passport, to make up for the early renewal.

Does the UK offer a passport with more pages? USA does, something like 24 pages for a standard passport, and 48 pages if you request the "extra pages" passport, same price as I recall.

Actually the full size U.S. passport is 54 pages these days.

When you apply you have an option to request he larger passport on the application form.

That doesn't  help you however as you are talking about a U.K. passport.

I have applied at least twice in my time in Thailand for a 54 page U.S. passport at the U.S embassy in Bangkok.
It can be done, and usually takes less than 2 weeks if you collect the ne passport at the U.S. passport in Bangkok.

But as I said above none of this info applies to you as you want a U.K. passport.

You can apply for a UK passport with extra pages for an additional fee. Worth doing if travelling a lot and dealing with visas.

You can get a UK passport with 48 pages, actually only from page 6 to page 47 as some pages are used for official information.

You will have to decide, depending on where you live, whether it is better for you to apply in person or have a visa company apply on your behalf bearing in mind the time and money involved in making two trips to Bangkok (one to submit the application and one to collect the passport). Visa companies charge around 5000 THB for passport services.

I recently renewed in person and I live in Nakhon Ratchasima province, my collection trip coincided with a planned few days in Kanchanaburi so it was not so bad but my application involved a twelve hour round trip with me driving.

True. But you lose those same pages when you apply for the standard 32 page passport.
Cost of the 48 page passport is also a bit higher.
