I happen to be well informed about Issan and Pattaya. I still have a condo in Jomtien and actually live in Issan. Issan cannot hold a candle to Pattaya as far as available ladies for sex. Yes, you can find it here but you will be disappointed because the cost of female services is much higher here than in Pattaya. I suppose the competition in Pattaya is much keener. Pay for play is available regardless of where you go.

Most of the girls in Pattaya are from Isaan though.

It's widely considered here that the North East is the most warm and friendly part of the country. Mix that in with a general attractiveness, a relaxed promiscuity and lack of financial opportunity and you have a recipe for something.

You can't answer such a question--not even with scientifically compiled data, since such data (which relies on everyone in the country having an equal chance of being contacted), is unreliable, as too many people are likely to lie about their circumstances anyway. A better question might be "Which areas or cities in Thailand have a reputation for adultery?"

When I used to live in the sticks (not Isaan), I was surprised how conservative the Ladies were. Only to be compared to my home-country in the 1950ties.

- Teenage pregnancy is another thing. Does not mean that the girls are overly "promiscious", they truly believe that their Prince Charming will stick around for life. Often times the Prince Charming has other plans.

As an other poster already mentioned, Chonbury province is likely to be far more "adulterous" than the entire Isaan. For obvious reasons.
Cheers.

Loved your Prince Charming quote. I think that title comes with an expiration date.

At least bar girls are honest about their intentions.

If that were the case, how do you explain the numbers of bar girls who become wives and still ply their trade?

Same category as "How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?"

Depends upon how small the angels and how big the pin, doesn't it?

I'm wondering how the OP would set about proving this assertion on a statistical basis. It would be a biased sample because (a) all anecdotal (b) what percentage of adulterers would admit their adultery.

Perhaps a different tack - what percentage of Issan women over the age of 18 are virgins.

No empirical evidence, just my anecdotal personal experiences I base on over 50 years working and living in SEA and knowing literally dozens, if not scores, of Westerner man and Thai/Filipina/Vietnamese bar girl relationships.

These relationships range from long-time marriage in the foreigner's home country through long-term in the local country to short-term relationships in the girl's country.

I knew two industrious SEA wives in Saudi who offered their wares at exorbitant prices in-kingdom, a group of SEA wives of Americans in Florida who established an escort service in the Tampa Bay area, and another wife in the DC area who tried to recruit my wife to join her band of merry women--those, of course, were long-term marriage prostitutes. I cannot recall the numbers of girls in-country (Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam) who are either married or in relationships with foreigners who actively ply the trade when their man is away working or, maybe just at home watching the kids.

Are you really that naive and have not seen some of the same?

Don't get me wrong, not all SEA wives are ex-bar girls or prostitutes, and not all ex-bar girls are still plying their trade after marriage. Yet the number of SEA wives offering sex for money is greater than the numbers of Western wives doing so--yeah, yeah, I know, it may be more difficult for the Western wives.

Not naive at all i also know dozens  + who married some to bar girls some to factory girls  ect ect ect i know of 3 couples who have split up 2 who lived back in the husbands home country as far as im aware both wifes have stayed there after the divorce and one couple  in Thailand. This is about thai not other SEA countries thats like saying EU when talking about UK.. i can say hand on heart i know of only one lass who when hubby went back to Australia (distance marriage till he could afford to retire and live here) who went back to the bar scene and returned to home before hubby came back. Being me and not one to see people being cheated on,i told him the score when he returned. That gives you number 3 divorce. Luckily he had not invested here house ect.

I see only few farangs and wives never been one to socialize that much. Thats not to say i dont enjoy a few pints and a chin wag with fellow Expats or tourists for that matter.

I firmly belive its (married to farang girls in a long distance relationship) hyped up on this medium scewing the actual numbers enough for new members to belive its rife.

I will say that i have seen married western women having afairs under hubbies nose.

We all know that men and women all over the world have affairs but as this is a thai forum and all the hype about bar girls do this and that, and thai girls will rip you off and dont dont dont do this that and the other, its just that HYPE same old posters time aftervtime jumping on threads to give there negative opinion,  throwing abuse  or the old chesnut thai appologised at anyone who stands on the opposite side. In my opinion of course. Only takes 2 or 3 negative posters on threads to dominate the thread and scew the actual thruth.

You seem to have missed the point. I have not said, nor do I believe, that all Thai/Filipina/Vietnamese women are selling sex even after they marry—and I do mention those three countries because I am most familiar with them. I have spent half my life living and working within those three countries and quite frankly find them very similar in this regard. The last almost eleven years of constant living in Thailand has reinforced the anecdotal references I have for Thailand which cover the years since I first arrived here in 1967. I note that many of the women in all three countries are from poor families, and have resorted to selling their bodies to improve their lives and help support their families. With that part, I find no fault. However, once they have found the source of the ATM and still ply their trade; I see no excuse.

You note that it is common for posters to jump in and bad mouth Thai women on this forum. Why do you think that happens? I tend to believe many of them, not because all Thai women are that bad, but because so many farangs are that stupid. I cannot believe some—one Thai “lady” had three farang “husbands” in less than two years, and each of them bought her a bar to run. She even changed her facebook relationship with one of them as soon as she left him at the airport; because she already had another “husband.”  I have seen many—hand on heart too, if you like—that were not faithful when hubby went to work.

Out of the thought that I would like to know if I were being cuckolded, I too made the mistake of telling an old friend his wife was f---ing around while he was away. He called me a liar, cursed our friendship, told me to mind my own business, and said he would never acknowledge me again. That was more than ten years ago, now. Last September, I ran into a friend of his and asked about my former friend. He told me the friend had found out his wife was unfaithful and had divorced her and was now happily remarried. I went back to the friend’s favorite bar hoping to see him. One day I did. I greeted him and he said, “I don’t know you. Get away from me.”

Diffrent folk diffrent strokes. I cant agree about the beliving every hard luck ive been screwed over stories on here all so fimiliar with there own twist on it to make it there story.

As for the guy you tried to help you can only do as you feel is right if that was his attitude then in my book hes not worth knowing.

Of course there are some who will play the system and have 3 0r 4 going at the same time happens everywhere. Christ when i was young i was at as well but i wasnt called a money grabing slut as i recall.the words lucky <deleted> and smooth talking b******d were a few to be used. Also if they offered to pay for a meal or drink or taxi home did i politley refuse did i ferk. If i could have found a sugar mommy i certainly would have  let her look after me

Can not compare or know for sure if Isan is the most adulterous region rather just know that there is plenty of it going on and initiated by either sex.

I think Chonburi; the province Pattaya is in; would be near the top of any league table.

Women in Pattaya generally come from other parts of the province, doesn't imply anything about Chonburi.

Up to 40 years ago it was common practice for Thais to sell their wives, old habits die hard. Even the Thai women have adapted their thinking to this. Fair enough.

Our western concepts don't fully apply here.

YES

Isaan is a region comparatively low literacy rate. It is also a region with the highest percentage of low income earners.

This  makes the females vulnerable to fall for foreigners with the intention of making money and for better life.

For the males , alcohol makes it hard for these men to be able to manage their sexual desire.

Does issan have a comparatively low literacy rate? Is this backed up by research or you belive?.

"Females are vunrable!" But yet in the same sentance you say "with the intention of!" So are they vunrable or just got wise heads on them which then flies in the face of your opening statement.

By "for the males" i presume you mean Thai Males. Are you saying farangs are any diffrent?

It takes two to tango, or do you think married men only have affairs with single ladies?
