Can anyone tell me the best make car battery to buy as my pick up is 6 years old and this will be it 3rd battery and do any of them give more than a one year guarantee

GS heavy duty have lasted me over 5 years + nearly 6 years.

I don't know of any battery that guarantees more than 1 year but then again haven't been busy looking..

I would go for a Panasonic MF. I have just replace the one in my wife's Mazda Lantis.  Bought it 4 years ago. Got just a few months less on the previous one.

Guarantee is usually 1 year. I use Battery BB Delivery ..     http://www.batterybbdelivery.com/  they will come and fit for you at your home.

MF batteries tend to be somewhat taller than those that are not MF. The plates will be around the same height but there is a much greater level of electrolyte above the plates. I have never needed to top up.   You can check the level on most MF batteries, just ensure that you clean around the area first.

Today I had the eighteen month service on my Everest. Sometime ago I was told by a Ford Service Tech that two years would be good for the battery.  Since then I have bought and used a CTEK Smart Charge on the battery every 3-4 weeks. I also after use, cool the engine area but lets not go there again:smile:.

So the battery is now at least eighteen months old. CCA rating is 740CCA, so it says.

Nine months ago the Battery test gave 666CCA, 12.82V and Starter test 11.05V. Charging Volts 14.18V

Now the Battery Test gives 854CCA and 13.22V  and Starter test 11.16V. Charging Volts 14.04V

I don't know if they used the same tester as I can't read the ID number on the old printout. I think that the battery looks better than nine months ago ... I think

I rotate the CTEK through our cars, seems to help, really only time will tell I guess. On the Civic RS it says don't charge in situ, not sure why, but I just stick an old battery across the battery leads and then disconnect the -ve lead and then stick the charger on the battery.
