PHUKET: -- Lanta marine national park has sought cooperation of Phuket marine officials to track down a yacht allegedly involved in illegal hunting of rare fish in the park area.

Park officials on Saturday caught two divers in the acting of shooting grouper fish in the sea close to the Lanta island after being tipped off by divers in the area. The officials then escorted the two suspects to their yacht where they found two men and a boy and five group fish weigh about 10 kgs.

The park officials later took the two arrested divers to Klong Sai office for documentation and left the rest on board their yacht.

However, after the departure of the park officials, the yacht sped off from the scene together with the fish and the three people on board.
