A friend has asked me for advice getting a tourist Visa and I told her I will place onthaivisa.com as you guys seem to know all the ropes

The Facts

My friend and her husband made a friend who is a University graduate with a BA who is interested in futhering her education in Oz

But does not know if she should do in Australia or Thailand

she is 26 years of age and has a good job

My friends have offered to pay her expenses and want to bring her to Australia as soon as possible while they are on holidays from work on a tourist visa not a students visa as she has not made up her mind as yet

They have a good home and are willing to sponser her

They are happy to purchases a return ticket for her and will cover all her exspenses while in Australia

Question can she get a visa when she buys the plane ticket or must she apply seperatly on her own

I have looked at many visa application sites on the web and they all promise different things

what is the quickest and cheapest way to get her a Visa

any help will be appreciated

She will have to be interviewed at the Australian Embassy and must have a sponsor letter from the people in Australia with her.

She will find it easier to get a Student Visa if she has documentation regarding where she intends to further her education.

Be aware that the Australian Government know all the tricks so if this is just another way to get the Thai GF to Oz then it will have already been tried. My advice would be for her to have as much paperwork to prove that her application is genuine or she will be on a loser.

Tourist visas for single Thai females are difficult to obtain due to international restrictions imposed by the Thai Government - not the countries they intend to visit.

From a man that has been there, seen it - done it!

Good Luck!

She should apply for a tourist visa herself, the form has a section regarding sponsorship or at least how she will maintain herself while in Oz. Your friends should help her with the form as they will need to put their names on it...Your friends will need to be in Oz at the same time she is, if they sponsor her.

Your friends should also fill out a statutory declaration outlining the extent of financial support, where she will stay and their role in ensuring she abides by the visa conditions and show proof that they actually know the girl and have done so for some time.

An interview would only be required if they need to check anything that they deem to be suspicious or requires clarification.

The visa application takes about 5-6 days for a decision, however some can take longer due to the reasons stated above.

She should get her visa granted before any money is spent on a ticket, the visa has a 3 month activation period.

There is no quick or cheap way....there is one way. The cost is the same no matter where you lodge it and the only extra expense would be if you use courier services.

Also be aware that working on a tourist visa is prohibited, and while some education can be undertaken, there are conditions on that.

For a student visa she would need an actual acceptance as a student at a particular Uni/college etc...

You can go to the Immi website which is listed in one of the pinned threads in this section for further info.

You need to determine what "further education" she is hoping for.

Gaining admittance to certain universities is not easy. I suggest that you do some research into the requirements.

There are other learning institutes that offer basic learning skills but are really a front for those who wish to obtain work whilst enrolled as a 'student.' The government is wise to these institutes and regularly check their books for fraudulent practices.

I am sorry I may not have made my questions understood as I did not get any answer to my questions

1) at this stage she is not looking for a student Visa, she has already gone through all this, and now wants to make her mind up first

2) her return tickets will be paid for by her sponser

3) She will stay with her friends for the full time she is in Australia and then return to Thailand on her return ticket

4) her friends will be in australia for the full times she is here and if she goes on sight seeing will go with friends

My questions was, can she get a visa from the travel agent when she gets the ticket, will immigration not want to konw she has a return ticket and intends to return

Or should she fill out Tourist Visa (Subclass 676) and put it in her self

Is this the right form she requires

I have looked everywhere on the Australia immigration site and they say nothing of saying she needs a sponser withe her a letter

I have been told by someone that the worst can happen is when she reaches Australia immigration officials will ask who is meeting here, and if it is her sponser she will pass thtough immigration quickly

Please remember her sponser is a married couple not a single guy

I suggest that you re-read the post from Gburns. His answer is spot on.

Travel agents don't issue visas, she will need to apply at or through the Australian Embassy.

She will need to fill in the tourist visa herself, or if it is filled in for her she will need to understand the answers given, and to sign it.

I have looked everywhere on the Australia immigration site and they say nothing of saying she needs a sponser withe her a letter

She only needs a sponsor if she cannot finance the vacation herself. She needs to show that she has sufficient funds, assure the embassy that she is will not seek or engage in any form of employment and she also needs to provide a valid reason to return to Thailand.

I have been told by someone that the worst can happen is when she reaches Australia immigration officials will ask who is meeting here, and if it is her sponser she will pass thtough immigration quickly

Immigration can prevent her from entering Australia for many reasons. If she can show that she has the proper tourist visa stamped into her passport, has accommodation arranged, has the funds (or proof that funds exist) required to cover her expenses for the duration of her stay and has properly filled out the Incoming Passenger Card, she should not have any problem with Immigration.

Click on this link to view the Australian Embassy, Bangkok web site.

Each of the underlined heading on that page will provide additional information for you. Just click on the underlined heading.

Go to the bottom of the page and click on "Frequently Asked Questions" for more information on what you are asking.

If your friend does not have sufficient funds in order to apply for a unsupported tourist visa, the person who is prepared to financially support her application will need to prove that sufficient funds exist.

There is no requirement for a statutory declaration to be submitted.

I Quote...........She will need to complete the form 48R at the VFS office in Bangkok or one of the rural agencies.

You are obviously not reading my posts :o

Where possible the sponsor should submit a Stat Dec as it is a legal document and will hold more weight than a covering letter. However if a Stat Dec cannot be provided then a letter in english will have to suffice.

As for the sponsors financial support....as MM said....they will need to provide proof of income and/or savings to cover the time she is in Oz.
