I am remodelling a section of my condo and building a small sports lounge (bar, memorabilia, a few plasmas with sports showing etc..).

I also want to have a pool table.

Now I dont know much about pool gear however I enjoy playing on a table that rolls true with good balls and cues.

Where in Bangkok can you get good tables, balls, cues, accesories etc... ?

What sort of cost would I be looking at for good stuff ?

Just talk to any bar manager/owner. I am very sure they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Be warned though, snooker and pool etc... are known as 'gambling sports'. So, don't be surprised if you find the local boys-in-brown coming around to inspect your Condo! I believe you need a license to own a pool table.

If you are too lazy to apply for one however, a monthly donation of 500baht to the Cop Station's Whisky fund, will suffice.

Ask Henning at the Ball in Hand or P'Long at Hilary's bar, both on Sukhumvit Soi 4 and they might be able to help you find decent equipment at a good price.

I have P'Long's number, pm me if you need it.

I dont think you need a license for your home table.

BTW, I do like pool table by "SOVEREIGN". Quality is fine.

Are you thinking something like this (Eyes Wide Shut):

Defo slate bed, avoid sticking it near a window, and perhaps look to getting that newer-style cloth on there as opposed to the older style felt which doesn't seem to fair too well in high humidity.
