My limited experience with just one of the 1-2-Call SIM cards is that there is no PIN. You just put the new SIM card in the phone, turn it on when you arrive, and it registers on the GSM network. Only takes one minute or less.

No PIN required.

It is nice to get the 1-2-Call SIM card ahead of the trip because you can give the phone number out to friends and family before you leave home. And with the system in Thailand, all incoming calls to your 1-2-Call phone are free. (But you have to add credit to the phone to keep it activated - credit buys minutes to talk and additional activation time). 300 Baht is good for 30 days, 800 Baht is good for 100 days, etc.

There was never any requirement during my visit to use any kind of PIN with the phone. So relax and have a nice trip.

The PUK number is generally printed on the back of the credit-card sized card that the SIM card was attached to when you purchased it. If you tossed out that card, then you might be SOL.

Btw, I am able to program my DTAC sim-card with a PIN. The personal number must be entered when the phone is turned-on. After a few bad attempts (3?), then the only way to access the phone is with the PUK number.

thats true, there is no pin activated when you buy a new card,

the 6 digit number is probably the PUK code which is the master pin.

Isn't there some kind of activation process though? I remember I had to enter something, or actually I tried to add the first top up card and the account hadn't been activated or something. So the representative where I bought it did something, then I thought entered something from the box.

My next card since I knew there some kind of process I figured out how to do it somehow.
