Anupong to meet provincial governors on collection of answers to PM’s four questions

BANGKOK: -- Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda said on Tuesday that he would invite provincial governors nationwide to meet him and receive instructions on how to collect the public’s responses to the four questions raised by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha last week.

 

Anupong said they would be invited to meet him on Friday, although no specific timeframe for the collection of the public’s opinions had yet been established. 

 

Whether they are able to collect opinions within 10 days or longer than that, “it’s still fine”, he added.

 

The four questions were raised on Friday by the premier during his 50-minute weekly television programme, “Returning Happiness to the People of the Country”.

 

They are:

 

- Do you think the next election will give Thailand a government with good governance? 

 

- If that is not the case, what will you do?

 

- Elections are an integral part of democracy, but are elections without regard for the country’s future right or wrong? 

 

- Do you think bad politicians should be given the chance to return to politics, and if conflict re-emerges, who will solve it and by what means?

 

Prayut encouraged members of the public to submit their answers to the Damrongdhamma Centre’s provincial branches, who would forward the responses to the Interior Ministry.

 

His move has become politicised during the past few days, as politicians view that the premier will use answers to the questions to gauge views ahead of the coming general election.

Quite amazing the guy can put these four questions to the public so quickly and get the results in 10 days, but after many years he cannot give a day for a election.

only independent and ethical oversight will give a country an acceptable governance

- If that is not the case, what will you do?

an election is not "right" or "wrong", an election is "on schedule" and the results are binding and messing with that is "wrong"

What's a "bad" politician? A criminal? In the case of a politician committing a crime, let the justice system sort it out. That includes scammers as well as government overthrowers.

They should let this "four question" thing fade away.

 

It just makes the Junta look petty and silly pretending to solicit "public input".

 

Since they didn't allow "discussions" on the new "Constitution" prior to the sham referendum, it seem highly disingenuous now to be asking rhetorical "questions", which really only allow for one "acceptable" answer.

 

 

Oh, the Junta has pretty much replaced all provincial governors with their own crew.

It would be best if they just let this 4 questions thing fade from everyone's memory.   Stop mentioning it.  It was a stupid idea to begin with and no one believes in the PM's sincerity anyway.  Just drop it and move on to the next debacle out of the PM's mouth.
