US comedian Kathy Griffin apologises for 'beheaded Trump' photo

A US comedian has apologised for a photo shoot in which she appeared holding a fake bloodied head that resembled US President Donald Trump.

In a video message posted on Twitter, Kathy Griffin "begged" for forgiveness and said she had "crossed a line".

She said she was asking celebrity photographer Tyler Shields to remove the photo from the internet. The gruesome image brought a storm of online criticism, including from Mr Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr.

Just goes to show how far society has declined. In a true political correct world this could be seen as an assault or threat against the OPUS but hey he is Trump people can say and do as they please.

When has Cheetos ever apologized?

Come on Kathy, that's the sort of joke Trump would make. No need to sink that low. You can do better.

Someone going off about shoving machine guns in a sitting President's mouth?

Say it ain't so...

And I agree, Griffen was out of line.

Yea, it's about an elected president, but in the case of Trump: anything goes. Now you may get an idea about who owns the media, arts scene, cinema, literature publishers, name it. Still furious for her Hillary puppet did not make it.

Nothing but "democrats", "activists", "lefties", "anti-fa", "concerned citizens" showing their true colors -> Brown

She was out of line but at least apologised , more than Trump or his fan club ever do.

Yeah, baby, you are sorry.

Wait, I am confused, who were you referring to as an ignorant selfish bigot?

Yes, it's an unfortunate incident and Kathy Griffin has some major egg on her face. But compare to the international tragedy (excepting authoritarian leaders like Putin, Duterte, Salman, etc.) of trump becoming president for some perspective.

In that case I would like to see the White House 'piece of dog scat' charged and convicted of a felony for threatening the lives of millions and millions of people with his boorish undiplomatic performance in Europe last week and for providing 110 Billion in arms to the  enablers of ISIS and Radical Islamic Terrorism (That's the phrase he slagged off Obama for not using in Saudi, yet he forgot to use it himself). Lets see who causes most deaths by their foolishness, Griffin or Trump.

Bit of an overreaction, eh?

It was a mistake but where was there an actual threat to his life? Answer -- there wasn't.

Did you even know who she was before this one thing?

I did. Love her!

Absolutely & whatever career she had I hope it's gone gone gone.

Its time lawsuits for defamation and slander be brought to these individuals, they are out of control. Finally I agree with the Thai law :) :)

No, it isn't gone.

She's got a loyal fan base.

Trust me.

On top of that, even though this was definitely a big mistake, she gets much more name recognition now and the chance build an even bigger fan base.

No, I'm not suggesting she did this stunt on purpose for it to backfire and get massive publicity but the result will be the same. Of course, she will lose any random trumpists that happened to be in her fan base. One or two confused people.

May the covfefe be with you!

If you watch the video of the setup to the picture, she tells the photographer they'll have to move to Mexico. The apology is a joke in its own right.

text in wrong spot

it would seem both items are in very poor taste

Sorry,  Covfefe what I was about to post...

Not saying the Griffin photo wasn't in bad taste; it was...but Trump's "indignation" over it (and "concern for how his son feels") is pretty laughable, when Trump himself sent out a right-wing dog whistle during the campaign calling for people to "exercise their Second Amendment rights" and shoot Clinton.

Despite all the right wing snowflakes getting their panties in a bunch over Griffin, she was clearly not calling for actual violence to be done to the President, whereas Trump's encouragement of violence against immigrants HAS resulted in actual violence, and continues to.

Then of course, there's also this:

What is slanderous or defamatory about the skit?

If so called leaders evoke these sort of responses it speaks volumes about their style and inability to generate respect the position would normally earn.

I'm saddened she felt the need to apologise

Given her experience from her Dakota Fanning debacle, it is very difficult to believe she was naive in this instance. It may not have been the primary motivation, but it was definitely a consideration.

So wish we could get back to a political discourse that, while spirited, could focus on everyone's constitutionally guaranteed right to life and liberty. This was a concept that united citizens, not divided them.

I remember a time when politicians spoke of limiting the government's role in our life and preserving our inalienable right to liberty, not pandering to groups with promises of government assistance, privileges, and benefits. We've started to lose this concept, which was the heart of what made the democratic republic great.
