Wonder if anyone has done similar and what were your experiences?

I just ordered a Samsung 6000 Series 4K TV - 43" to basically watch movies on of an evening via my PC which runs PLEX.

I also decided that my graphics card needed a bit of an overhaul as it is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Just really looking for comments, suggestion and advice about how to get the best out of the new hardware and what differences or problems I am likely to see in the upgrade.

I have ordered a Gigabyte GTX 1050i as it offers 4 displays, I need 3, I have a monitor that runs 1920 x 1600 0n a display port and an old secondary monitor running at 1050 on DVI.

I bought the new 1050i as it can run 3 screens (I hope) which I want it to run the Samsung 4K TV off the HDMI 2.0 slot and maybe use this for my PC Desktop display too if it is decent.

Will I see much improvement in graphics, (I don't play games, only use a PC for video and photos and basic programs) between my old Nvidia Gigabyte GTX 460 card against the new 1050i?

Will the 1050i drive the Samsung 4K 6000 series OK?

My PC has enough oomph I think, it is a 3770K @ 4GHz, with 32GB RAM.

Any advice etc. is appreciated.

Gtx 1050ti can drive your 4k TV at 60hz. Your Gtx 460 can also drive 4k but limited to 30hz. If you watch uhd h. 265 contents Gtx 1050ti can support hardware decoding. Else everything will be choppy. Nowdays even a 1000baht tv box can do 4k decoding at 60hz

Thanks, I was after something that could run basically Windows 10 at 4K resolution at 60 Hz. I heard that 30 Hz was horrible.

What I was also curious about is running three displays - Do you think that the 1050TI can run the following ( all non gaming, just in a basic PC mode) -

1: Dell @ 1920 x 1200

2: Acer @ 1680 x 1050

3: Samsung 4K TV?

If I can get my desktop to be nice and clear on the Samsung at 4K I will be more than happy. As far as the movies go....well to be honest I don't really need 4K at the minute but the price on the Samsung was good and it cannot hurt to have this for the future.

I just want to be able to have a decent sized video for playing my movies via Plex that will be viewed from about 9 feet, plus a big clear desktop that will be viewed from about 3 feet. I use Wacom tablets and photoshop quite a bit and also use Premiere Pro for video editing.

Hopefully it will be a bit of a step up from the 460. (But to be honest, I bought the 460 7 years or so ago and the damn thing still holds its own compared to a lot more modern cards.

Cheers for your input!

4k x.265 plays back fine on my 3630QM/650M laptop running Linux.  And that definitely doesn't have x.265 acceleration and leans on the CPU.  It of course is limited to 30 fps per second as you mentioned.
