Relevant agencies have conducted medical response training to improve preparedness in the event of serious incidents.

The Thai Medical Response to Major incident simulation training (ThaiSim) model has been developed to enhance hospitals’ readiness to deal with emergencies.

“ThaiSim can be applied to all hospitals and situations,” National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEM) secretary-general Atchariya Pangma said on Thursday.

He said hospitals in Lampang province had applied ThaiSim to deal with road accidents. In the South, ThaiSim has been used to plan actions in incidents related to drilling platforms.

“In Bangkok, we have conducted training on airport emergency responses,” Atchariya said.

He said the NIEM, in collaboration with the armed forces, police and various relevant agencies, had also offered Thailand Tactical EMS for interested parties.

“The training takes just about three hours and it accommodates between 40 and 50 participants,” he said.

He said during the training, participants would practice categorising health conditions of patients being rushed in to hospitals and transferring them to proper units.

Atchariya said the NIEM was ready to help hospitals with ThaiSIM training.

“If you are interested, just contact us,” he said.

Cool!  I love training, as long as it's relevant and good.  This is one way to improve Thais and Thailand from the inside out.
