Ariya Jutanugarn claims No 1 in women world’s golf rankings

Ariya Jutanugarn or better known in the country as “Pro May” won a play-off yesterday at the Manulife LPGA Classic in Canada, enabling her to become the world’s top woman golfer in the ranking today by the Women’s World Golf Rankings (WWGR) Inc.

Pro May ascended to World No. 1 after her victory over US golfer Lexi Thompson and South Korean Chun In-gee in the play-off.

Last week, she was wrongly proclaimed No 1 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings by the WWGR, taking over the title from New Zealand’s Lydia Ko.

Later the Technical Provider of WWGR issued a statement aplogising the error in its projections.

Ko had a mere 0.01 ranking points of 8.37 over Jutanugarn’s 8.36.

Well done Pro May!  With her very positive attitude and always wanting to smile (she says smiling relaxes her) she is a good role model for young Thai girls.  And she's a darn good golfer.

Well done Ariya! Amazing accomplishment!

Quite incredible for a mere 21 year old. Congratulations to her  . . .
