A Thai youth team pocketed a bronze medal in the mechatronics engineering category at the China International Skills Competitions in Shanghai and Suzhou.

Department of Skill Development director-general Theerapol Khunmuang said on Tuesday that the event involved 35 countries, 227 competitors and 21 categories.

Thailand sent two teams to compete in automotive technology and mechatronics engineering.

The Thai teams included Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna students Jakkapat Rermrak and Patipan Timai, who competed in Shanghai in mechatronics engineering and won bronze.

Sanit Akarachat from Toyota Delux Co competed in automotive technology in Suzhou.

The three Thais will join 30 youths in representing Thailand at World Skills Abu Dhabi in Dubai in October.

The China contest was a good opportunity to boost their preparedness for the Dubai event, Theerapol added.

This guy must have the most boring job in the hub of skills.

When is the "Eating, Sleeping and Mobile Phone Conversation" competition on?  Surely, they must take the gold in that one!
