So, who is to blame, the farangs, the dancer, or the PM who gave her the free publicity?

Japanese are not 'farang', and the fact that there may be the odd foreigner in the crowd makes no difference to my point - you can tell from the videos that there are very, very few of them. You're welcome to enjoy the music if you like, some people even like Coldplay so it's horses for courses. I like some of the stuff that uses Roland 909s. In the 60s-70s-80s I myself was a rock and roll musician, in the midst of the debauchery of the day. Sex, drugs, rock and roll. But it was the musicians that got the sex. not the audiences. 60 years later, same same Thailand, sexy dance will cause rape and debauchery, and all the usual ignorant male attitude. Comments by Prayuth reflect his backward thinking, it's no surprise the country is not moving forward. What she does is (to me) pretty mediocre gogo dancing / karaoke on a bigger stage. Yawwwnnn. Takes more than shaking an ass in my face to impress me. I like a singer named Baitong Changamm from Laos. Now THAT'S not only talent, but class. If our young lady wanted to develop talent she could. ing on youtube for anyone with any real aspirations to learn from. Baitong is a great Morlam and luktung singer, not from 'Laos' as far as I know, more like Ubon. She looks very similar to Tai Orathai, arguably a better talent. What if a woman thought a tight soldier or police officers uniform was seductive. It would be whose fault they were raped? How did the farang make her dance like that? Also if you look on fb you will see some really crazy, provacative dancing that a farang would never do. Where did they get that idea? kingstonkid
As one who has lived in Muslim countries as well as North America and here for 6 yers I can definitley say that YES IT IS THE FAULT OF FARANGS. Take a look at the Kardasian culture that they have spawned. Miley Cyrus herself has come out and said she wishes she could take back some of the things that she has done. There is a definite lack of moral well being in North America and probably the UK. All of a sudden in Muslim countries like Pakistan kids get access to the internet and MTV and TMZ and all the nonsense that they span. Look at the way younger girls in the US are dressing. How they are acting. The pregnancy and fatherless child. There is a decline in the moral outlook. NOW, take a country like Laos, Thailand, Pakistan, India and such and drop these websites and all the pop culture on people that have no <deleted> clue. Young girls have always wanted to be like their heroes. how many girls back in the 60's wanted to be just like Barbie and find a guy that looked like Ken. Take a listen to the music that is now played in North America. All of a sudden these girls and guys see Miley get all the exposure and celebrity status because of twerking and they think that in order to get that they need to do it. As to the rape there are a few things that have to be considered. First, the lack of responsibility or respect for each other that is shown around the world. No one is responsible for anything anymore it is always society's fault. Tourists that come here and drop their moral culture do not help. Bottom line while it is not the average Farang tourist that is causing the problem it is in fact Farang Culture as it is that is causing it. Before the Vietnam war how much of a den on iniquity was this country how old is walkiing street and Patpong.

iphototjes
He's absolutely right. Now that we entered the year 1759 it is about time we start to understand that rape is provoked by women and that the poor men cannot help the fact that they cannot control their animal instinct. The entire Arab world knows this. How come women can still walk around without a burka? There ought to be a law.....
hotchilli
It isn't a problem in itself per-say for an adult society or audience, but when I see young girls aged about 8 years old doing the same dance I do begin to wonder if it's sending out the right message.... Khon Kaen Dave
You know what? if he is so bloody worried about girl singers sexy dancing on the stage. Worried about the reputation of Pattaya and hence Thailand. Do the obvious thing. With a Sweeping statement, declare that all bars, massage Parlours,go go joints, night clubs, karaoke bars, etc will be closed for good. He wont do it because he dare not. Too many fingers and snouts in pies and troughs. He's the boss, he can pass any law he likes. And let him watch how many tourists come here for the scenery, culture, and beautiful temples..And let him sit on his balcony and watch the tumble weed roll down walking street. But once you've seen one beautiful island, and 'oohed' and 'Ahhad' over it, what else is there to do? After a while, they all look the same. We all know why 80% of tourists come to Patts. For gods sake, i was one of them. But all this false crap about tidying it up, is boring now. All it does is give the cops a chance to get out get on the felangs backs. This guy is out of touch with his people, the world, and must be pretty bored to comment on the dancing movements of a Girl singer. Mind you, if there's nothing else to do, you can always go ride an Elephant, or visit a Crocodile zoo, i hear they are safe places to go these days! Beechboy
I'm no prude, but this time I feel that there is a valid point to be made here. Her dancing is seductive and to the point of lewdness. It is totally OTT and unnecessary. There is a time and a place for everything and to ape sexual acts in front of youngsters is innappropriate in my opinion. I happen to like watching it, but that's hardly the point. The line needs be drawn somewhere and basic standards need maintaining in a properly functioning society. If not a mind-set infiltrates the heads of the vulnerable and could feasibly lead to more dangerous behaviour. To blame farangs is stupid though. This is a Thai problem because it was, likely, conceived by Thais and seems to appeal to Thais.

spidermike007
The really little man is showing his extraordinary lack of human understanding, wisdom, intelligence, and forethought, yet again. He is a numskull. Instead of preaching about false morality, he should be looking within for the source of the problem, into his own twisted, power hungry, and infantile nature. He knows nothing about anything. Gyrating rock stars are going to degrade the nations purity? Where does this nonsense come from? Why is he so vapid? Does he listen to what he is saying? Does anyone? I suspect very few do. Of all the Thais I have spoken to about him, so few say he is a good and effective leader. So few. She is a very cute, and very sexy woman. So what? With a body like that, why not show it off? He needs to focus on the real problems this nation faces, and leave his psychological issues at home. If he was really interested in improving the country's image, the best place to start would be to keep quiet. spidermike007
Fareng this, and fareng that. He did a good job of shutting up for a long time, and I assumed he had been lectured by his superiors about destroying tourism, and making the country look very unappealing to foreigners, by spouting these nonsensical, nationalistic diatribes. Foreigners are responsible for all of the nations woes. Let us do everything in our power, to ever avoid introspection, reflection, contemplation, or self analysis. Let us never take blame, nor responsibility for the nation's problems, nor the defects within the culture. Always shed responsibility, by blaming something from outside. Engage in the work of cowards, and very small men, at all times. This could be Little P's personal motto.
