I have heard so much conflicting info on obtaining thai visa that it has all become very confusing. Are there any retired eroupean couples out there? I want to retire to Thailand. As I am over 50 I know I can get a retirement visa however my partner of 14 years (not married) is under 50 and is dependant on me. Am I able to take her with me using my retirement visa? Anyone in a similar postion out there? Or anyone with the correct info that can help. We live in the UK.

Are you saying she is 14 years old or that you have been together for 14 years.? I assume the latter.

If you are not married she would not be classed as your dependant and would have to get a visa in her own rights. Would be a lot easier if you were married.

No you can not have her as a dependent on your retirement visa (extension of stay). She could probably obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa that would require her to exit country every 90 days from a Consulate in the UK but that is about the best and there would be no guarantee for the future.

You can apply for a retirement visa, but you will need to legalise you relationship with your partner for it to be recognised by the Thai authorities.

Once you are married she will be able to apply as your dependant.

Common law relationships are not recognised in Thailand for immigration purposes,

although they are quite common in the local population.
