webfact Posted June 15, 2017 Share Posted June 15, 2017 High end booze and watch thief comes to another end - his arrest Picture: Thai Rath BANGKOK: -- Police in Pathumwan in Bangkok have reported the arrest of a man who was stealing expensive alcoholic drinks and watches at many top stores in the downtown area. Chaisit Laotaew, 44, would assume the character of a tourist and speak English. When sales staff were distracted he would simply walk out with expensive items. Then he would sell the items on the internet. He was caught after stealing a bottle of Hennessey Paradis (70cl) worth 90,000 baht and a Ballantine 30 Year for 15,865 baht. Police nabbed him shortly after those thefts in a Rolex store. He admitted to theft and a string of other offences over the last few weeks. Police said in May he stole a 60,000 baht bottle of alcohol at Central World. On June 1st he made off with two bottles of booze worth 100,000 baht at Siam Paragon. On the 10th of June it was Emquartier - 100,000 baht. Last year her admitted to stealing a Franz Muller watch worth a million baht from Paragon that he later sold on to a foreigner for 500,000 baht. Classic Ray Posted June 15, 2017 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Similar difference used to be in England between burglary which was breaking in at night and simple housebreaking which was during the day. Since the 1968 Theft Act, burglary is the offence for breaking in anytime. Still differentiated in Scotland which doesn't use the Theft Act. It's either a knock off or it's been knocked off. As for "deserving" to be stolen from for not having your shop not like Fort Knox? Really?
