BANGKOK, 16 June 2017 (NNT) - Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said special economic zones should prioritize local businesses as part of the government's policy to support local SMEs.

The Prime Minister presided over the meeting of the special economic zone committee to follow up on progress and challenges. Gen Prayut said to explain to foreign companies that the government will be giving priority to local businesses and domestic companies as part of the government's policy of supporting SMEs.

Local agencies must also inform stakeholders of the challenges faced by several state programs, so they understand why some programs may have been stalled.

The Prime Minister also urged local administrations to share the responsibility of policy implementation to reduce the burden on the central government.

And to add to the confusion each of the zones can create their own SME hub so that stakeholders could form a committee to organise a seminar so that sub-committees could be created within each hub for all of the of the zones.

It is important that stakeholders, committees and everyone involved understands that the government is failing to achieve some (many) of it's objectives.
