BANGKOK: -- SUSPECTED serial bomber Wattana Pumares’s second wife is believed to have been involved in the planting of explosive devices at six locations in Bangkok earlier this year and in 2007 due to her political inclinations, according to investigators.

Wattana’s second wife, whose name has not been disclosed, reportedly met with the suspect at their condominium in Nonthaburi prior to each of the six incidents, the last of which took place last month at the Army-run Phramongkutkhao Hospital.

Wattana earlier told investigators he carried out the bombings alone due to his dislike of the military, which was heightened by the bloody crackdown on red-shirt protesters in 2010.

Investigators do not have evidence linking Wattana’s first wife to the multiple bombing incidents involving improvised devices, but said the woman, whose name was also withheld, worked at the Office of Army Commander-in-Chief prior to her recent retirement.

Sources said investigators were not yet convinced Wattana was a “lone wolf” in the incidents, three of which took place in 2007 and another three this year, even though he admitted to having planted the improvised bombs.

Wattana, 61, was an engineer who worked for the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and investigators said he had expertise in producing bombing devices with timers.

Besides the blast at Phramongkut-khao Hospital on May 22, Wattana said he had planted bombs at the former Government Lottery Bureau office and the National Theatre earlier this year, as well as other incidents in 2007 – in hope of discrediting the military-led governments.

Wattana told investigators he used public transport to take a bomb with a timer to the former office of the Government Lottery Bureau on Rajdamnoen Avenue before returning to his home in Nonthaburi.

Sources said the suspect was still insisting he committed the crimes to express his dislike of the junta-led Prayut government.

Meanwhile, sources said Wattana appeared to have owned only one bank account and there was no evidence of unusual money trails concerning the multiple bombing incidents.

Colonel Burin Thongprapai said the military had completed its interrogation of Wattana so the suspect would be handed over to police for further questioning.

Right! Put the whole family and all his friends inside too. Just to be on the safe side, so to say.

Plus some randomly selected people from the streets, just to show the general population this kind of actions are not being tolerated.

Now you´re on deep water. If you are willing to go that far, you must balance everything with moving some of the law enforcement to inactive posts att the same time.

See a full time work to manipulate the scale of crime VS corruption.

Or you start reading other newspapers and you understand why she is also a target for investigation.

Wattana says he acted alone however after having written 10.000 words handwriting experts say that he did not write the warning letters. So others were involved. Combine that with the meetings and the (they call it second wife but in the other newspaper they call it mistress) has strong political convictions. (we all know what that means).

So instead of ridiculing everything maybe get a bit better informed, this guy is a red oriented terrorist, and its possible the link is wider so they are investigating int.

I know you want to ridicule it to downplay it.. because it does not support your view of things.

It's clear from the article:

due to her political inclinations

The leading cause for arrests in Thailand during the Prayut regime.

No if you read the other article it becomes clear.. just like i posted.. his handwriting is not a match for the warning letters but he is the bomber... so guess what he did not act alone.

They got his DNA on the bomb.. security footage of him in the hospital.

I know you don't like it when it shows the side you so hard support does stuff like this so its better to ridicule the investigation act like its fake. Standard tactics on here.

Its what they are, your trying to ridicule a solid case.. one based on evidence. It clearly explains why more people are involved and you act like its not true.

So you don't think that someone who bombs a hospital is a terrorist ? and you deny that he has red sympathies ?

I think there are few people who will say that bombing a hospital is not a form of terrorism.

Have to wonder if his divorce settlement had anything to do with his hatred of the military. Being dumped and then taken to the cleaners has turned better men bitter. And her having powerful friends would mean that he couldn't even go round and give her a good kicking like your average Thai divorcee.
