Land border visa run 2 x 1 month ?

Are the latest rules for the classic landborder visa run that when you enter thailand for the first time, you get a one month turist visa, you can then get one more month by crossing a land border, turn around and walk back into thailand the same day; a total of two months. If you want to stay longer you need a visa sticker from a thai consulate ? (Long question :) )

Basically yes although technically it's not really a visa it's a visa exempt entry.

Two borders runs per year VE. It would appear the 'year' starts on the date you get your first VE.

Perhaps you could extend your 30 day VE's for 30 days at Imm' offices. 1900 baht. So you could stretch 60 × 2.

The rule as far as I know is 2 visa exempt entries by land per calendar year. For example if a person came in by land border now and got a 30 day visa exempt stamp..they would have one more exempt entry available up to the end of 2017 and 2 more available in the calendar year of 2018 - Jan1-Dec31. If they wanted to stay a little longer they could get a tourist visa from a consulate or embassy nearby that would give them 60 days plus 30 more if extended at an immigration office later.

You get a 30 day visa exempt entry not a tourist visa. You can only do 2 of them at land border crossings per calendar year.

You can extend each of those entries for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

If you wanted to stay longer than those 4 months you would have to get a single entry tourist visa at a nearby embassy or consulate.
