BANGKOK, 23rd June 2017, (NNT) - Thailand is to host the 49th International Chemistry Olympiadin in the middle of next month, with four Thai nationals entering the competition.

President of the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) Dr. Thatchai Sumitra, recently made the announcement, saying that competitors from 76 nations will take part in the event, which is scheduled for July. He added that the competition will honor Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn who is known for her scientific prowess.

Dr. Thatchai said four local students from Chulalongkorn University Demonstration School, Triam Udom Suksa School, and Mahidol Wittayanusorn School, will reportedly compete in the event.

According to the President, being the host of such a prestigious competition signifies the recognition of the international community in regards to Thailand’s academic competence, while encouraging local students to become more competitive, which leads to the development of quality human resources in the future.

The 49th International Chemistry Olympiad will be held at the Salaya campus of Mahidol University in Nakhon Pathum province from the 6th - 15th of July.

I wouldn't be surprised if the opening speech is held by a guy only known under the pseudonym Heisenberg.
