What date was the F/B message posted on ?

Were they posted in English or Russian ?

You'll have to ask her Mum or Major- General Apichart. Actually there's a lot of material in the paper whose name we must not mention but the articles are now archived and you have to pay for them. it's a shame that photo you put up from Hanoi doesn't show her left wrist because she has a distinctive tattoo there.

"A post on the Koh Tao community page on Facebook even states that news of the missing girl should be supressed to protect the already dwindling reputation of the island. And now rumours are circulating that the body of a young girl was found six weeks ago partially burnt, eaten by animals and partially wrapped in T-shirts."

Rape, constantly disappearing people, group killings.

The island is home to only for 1,300 people. ONLY 1300! This is approx 200-250 family.

Do you really think that they do not know what's happening on there? Everybody knows everything. They just keep silent and do not want to talk about it. The reasons can be different.

Another one joins the club of suspicious deaths! Ah yes ...of course.... there are no suspicious deaths on Koh Toa, right Steve?

WOW!!! …and look…….theres that name STEVE DRYLIE AGAIN!! This is just another coincidence suicide though right? By the way - if she hung herself from a tree why was her body according to eye witnesses found on a stone half eaten - did a monitor lizard climb up a tree and eat her?

"Police told the mother that the daughter had committed suicide and hanged herself on a tree. We have information from an eye-witnesses that the body of Elise was wrapped up in old T-Shirts or some cotton and a fuel bottle was found in a nearby small bag, too. The mother has confirmed this information and was passed on to her by the police, although she cannot accept why her daughter would have killed herself – she was acting normally during their last conversation and no signs of depression were visible, said mother Michele. She also wonders why she booked a transfer to Bangkok and then went into the jungle to commit suicide."

But perhaps as the Mayor of Koh Tao pointed out, foreigners forget this is not their country,  they do whatever they like, and this often causes their deaths, it’s all about fate…

forgot about this

this is fate

On 27th April 2017 a young girl from Belgium was found dead in Koh Tao, A.K.A Death Island. Elise Dallemange, 30 http://www.samuitimes.com/yet-another-girl-dies-strange-circumstances-koh-tao-desperate-mother-looking-information/ Thursday, June 29, 2017

Another Koh Tao cover up by Thailand's rulers? There should be embassy warnings by now for Koh Tao travel.

Why did she kill herself so far away from her previous bungalow? Mother said she was found ‘on the other side of Koh Tao Island’? Why did police never question taxi-drivers or motorbike rentals – how did Elise Dallemagne get to the place where she finally was found?  How about video footage?

Cases of female hangings are incredibly rare. An experienced police psychologist in Germany said women kill themselves almost always by overdose or cutting there wrist but he never had a single case in his career with a young female taking a rope out in the unknown nature.

Why did police keep this case secret to this day? Without the mother’s cry for help none of us would ever have come to know about this tragic death?

Why has the mother never received an autopsy report as promised to this day ? Was the intention of the police to silence the case in order to protect tourism in Thailand and especially not to allow a further revolt in the media about another female death on Koh Tao?

That is quite frankly shocking, another cover up to hide the truth, these deaths need to be properly reported and investigated, the only forensics experts that should be involved are Central Institute of Forensic Science under the Ministry of Justice Thailand  - who the police don't trust or use which is exactly why they should always be involved, they have proven in the past to be independent and above reproach and cannot be influenced by anyone

If the current PM wants to reform policing and justice in Thailand this is the first change he should be making

So another dead body of a young girl on death island has been found. Much to the Dislike of the Koh Tao apologists I guess.

This means the mentioned dead body, half eaten and burnt was not the Russian lady. But that of another one - which was kept secret. They really have something to hide over there.

This island will never see me and hopefully not any tourist anymore.

May be the remains of Valentina will be found later on on Koh Tao, too.

While I hope not and that some day she will turn up somewhere alive and happy - I am not very optimistic.

I really respect your astute posts on the Koh Tao deaths discussions smedley. But you need to take off your rose-tinted spectacles regarding the junta: they are an intrinsic part of the problem and, because of this, can never provide the solution.

Some are desperate for you to believe that the woman in the Facebook photos posted in this thread, who is clearly a good ten years older than Valentina, is her.

And I agree 100% with your assessment.

Time is ripe

Good Point. International bad press does tend to shake up things faster...

The Thai authorities along with the WHO did a five month investigation and they found out the the deaths were caused by pesticides, although werent able to say exactly which pesticide caused the deaths

The most probably explanation is that a bed bug chemical was used erroneously

Although no one was held accountable, it was accidental deaths, nothing malicious involved

You make is sound like there was a mass murderer on the loose

Yes, it was poisoning by pesticide, but the similarity that can be noted between the two cases is the initial denial by the police refusing to make a connection between the various deaths in that hotel, claiming the many deaths was occured at this place only "by chance". After the inquiry, there were promises that this would never happen again, that pesticides would now be controlled, which was not the case: there was a new case of double poisoning by the same type of pesticide at Koh Phi-Phi in 2012. Two cases of a different nature, but similar responses on the part of the authorities.

that was posted in 2010. Its an interesting read nonetheless.

Very interesting! Particularly because this family report was posted by people who came to spend a few months on the island as a family, without any polemic spirit, 4 YEARS BEFORE the double murder of September 2014 happened. So, 4 YEARS BEFORE passions and speculations started raging about Koh Tao!

Let note this passage which today resonates in a premonitory way:

"After a few weeks on the island, we found out that Koh Tao has a dark underbelly in the form of locally powerful mafia-like families that own many of the businesses and make sure that they get the cream of the profits that tumble into Koh Tao. In the fairly short time we were there, several people were killed - that is, murdered. We even heard the crack of a gunshot on one occasion.
"It seems that on this island you really don't want to say the wrong thing about the family head or sell drugs without their permission. Even people that merely go there and open a shop or cafe that thrives can become a target and, allegedly, new businesses sometimes mysteriously burn down during the night."
