According to most reports regarding deaths of Farlangs in Thailand, they only die in three ways; suicide (the all time favourite) accidents or illnesses. It seems that it`s only Thais who get murdered. It`s also widely known that western women never get raped in Thailand; if they cry rape that`s because they are trying to discredit the country and only covering up their own promiscuous lifestyles.  If Farlangs get robbed or beaten to a pulp in the streets or in bars, everyone knows that it must have been them who instigated it and deserved all they had coming to them.

So there you have it, cases closed, no point in searching for Thai perpetrators of murder and rape, because they simply don`t exist.

Yes - remember the quote? "No Thai could do this!"

Yes, not only do i remember that quote. But I also remember the quote: "there is no mafia on koh tao".

My personal opinion on this is that there's way too many possibilities and way too few facts. And way too much speculation and unjustified beliefs.

People think they know it's the mafia. People think they know it's not mafia.

The only thing I know for sure is that police on the island is extremely incompetent and/or corrupt.

a good criminal profiler would sort this island out

it really is simple, young naïve girls get involved with the locals in bars and nightclubs, the same thing happens in the med when young western girls go to have a good time - the difference in Koh Tao is when you say no....coward with big shark tooth ring cannot accept that..........how dare you refuse me - you know who I am - I have big power - I buy you drink all night ......ok now you have problem with me.

some friends might get involved when the shit starts and they may end up dead because they simply don't understand that these people will kill for face

we will beat you to a pulp on the beach and leave you humiliated and anyone that gets in the way will be dealt with too - how dare you refuse me - I buy you drink all night and you slap my face...now you are on my Island and you are dead

This really is the mentality...................best advice to anyone coming here for a holiday ... do not socialise with the locals but everybody knows that already...........unfortunately it cannot be avoided on the Islands

Rubbish.

I have lived in a Thai village community for several years, and mix more with the Thai locals then I do with other Farlangs. Never had any problems with Thai people because although I will never be accepted as one of them nor want to be, I have in-fact made efforts to assimilate into Thai society in parts and providing I show respect for them and Thai culture they will show respect for me or at least tolerate me and accept me or who and what I am, the same as I do for them. It`s simply a matter of accepting that Thais have different attitudes from us and understanding them and more so trying to lean more into their world rather than expecting them to accommodate us because we are in their country. If some westerners cannot accept that and find the Thais irritating, then it means Thailand is not for them and it`s pointless for them to keep complaining but still insisting to stay here.

What has this got to do with the situation on Koh Tao? Living in a Thai village seems to have cut you off from reality. Implicit in your post is that all of the victims are the guilty party. That's pretty sick.

After the last debacle with the two deaths on the beach & the farce of an investigation leading to the two arrests and conviction of the Myanmarese boys someone has decided this time no body will be found, no investigation is needed, so no adverse local or international publicity.

Obviously the killers are still on the island doing whatever they wish and being protected by a corrupted bought-off police.

people should just stay away from the place and let it slowly die a natural death.

Koh Tao is a stain on Thailand.

I truly hope people realize the dangers and stop visiting the place. Period.

The General should declare the island off-limits to tourists, and send in his corruption busters to clean the place up.

very disturbing if the rumour is true

No more disturbing than all the other deaths that have been covered up. This island is an idyllic death trap and will remain so whilst hundreds of thousands of backpackers go there every year. Even if they're aware of the dangers it's a case of it won't happen to me, mentality.

And statistically, they're safer there than travelling on Thai roads where it is estimated that over 17,000 deaths per annum occur,, mostly in motorbike accidents. So my advice to any tourists, first and foremost, is to travel by train or plane wherever possible and keep road travel to a minimum.

There is no secret here. And the solution to this problem is relatively simple, but will never, ever happen. Arrest the serial killer. Many know who the guilty family is. But, the problem is they are above the law. Any and all laws, including the army. This administration was created, to protect the elite, the wealthy, the connected, and those in power, despite proclamations to the contrary. So, the headman's son could not be arrested, even though the police, and many others knew who was guilty. Those poor Burmese chaps were framed, so this worm could roam free. And what does he do? He continues with his hobby of killing foreign women. If his father, the headman, had the slightest bit of intelligence, or control over his wayward son, he would ask him to behave himself, or at the very least to ply his trade elsewhere. Instead, he stays at home, and continues to inflict terror on Dark Tao. This family is fabulously wealthy, due to decades of illegal land sales. Therefore, they are untouchable. Even when it comes to murder, and mayhem. Totally above the law.

Do yourself a favor and never visit this island of plague, death, and horror. I have sworn it off, after having visited it at least five or six times in the past. I will never return. I do not want to support the five criminal families, who run this island. This place is as dark as anyplace in SE Asia. Avoid it. Deny it. Stay away, for your own good.

Changes investigations  NO

Quite simply there is too much money being made  by "people of varying descriptions" through this island, and it's very likely nothing to do with tourism

Koh Tao is umbillically connected to Koh Phangan. Stopping the full moon party & preventing ferry movement during moon week would sever their life blood in as little as 3 months and would see him/them served up to the authorities on a platter.

The best way to get this so called tourist destination delisted is to use social media to put out the word that no one should even contenplate spending time on death island. There is no point in relying on the authorities to do anything as they are part of the problem.

I agree with you in most parts.

But "This administration was created, to protect the elite, the wealthy, the connected, and those in power, "

may or may not be true. Regarding this  I do not see any difference in the performance of earlier  administrations. The Koh Tao scum has been existing and flourishing for decades. We don't know how many murders have been swept under the carpet before

nobody would have known this young girl had vanished on Koh Tao were it not for a relative going public and saying so, in fact her disappearance may never have been reported at all, there is a lot of bad stuff happens in Thailand that never gets reported or makes the press including missing people

are you a young blonde female?

Hes OK so it must be safe - seems slightly unintelligent logic to me - david Miller and the latest guy - the bricklayer from London who was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool with head injuries weren’t “young blonde girls”. All we can do is keep away and warn people that there are other places to go because KOH TAO IS UNSAFE!! There is a family that get away with murdering people - because they’re protected, ANYONE they fancy could be their victim - simple end of..

I agree with you and the fact that NO Government has done anything about the situation on Koh Tao SHOWS that they sympathise with the perpetrators and are complicit in the murders! NOT JUST the present government but all Governments that have allowed these vermin to survive - does anyone have a link to deaths of westerners on Koh tao before 20014? It would make interesting reading

I think people who use dead bodies as a soap box for their attention seeking tinfoil rantings to be much worse.

FYI: ....No matter how annoying and challenging you find it, requesting actual evidence for unfounded theories isn't trolling !!

The attraction of alcohol, sex and drugs are too strong for the farangs to want to boycott this island.

If you haven't been to the court in Thailand ( I had years back) you are just being naive to expect justice in Thailand. You expect the BIB to get the criminals? Is this some kind of a joke? I know people will respond to this post saying , "oh, everywhere you go there will be mafia like people, and they murder".  No, not at this rate on the Island.

I gather Farangs are selfish for not wanting to get together to boycott the Island. That's the only way to stop this game they play (with you Farang who else?).

I visited the Island 4 times and stop going there for the last 10 years, not going there any more. Not that I want to punish the whole island businessmen or innocent Thais living there, but they had to rid their Island of this pest.

I cannot pretend nothing real bad going on just because I want to enjoy myself on the Island. It would go against my conscience.

Have you seen anything that suggest an agenda to the contrary? Have any current high ranking government officials, police, or army officers been arrested, convicted, and sentenced? No. Not a single one. Zero. Only the little guy, who is relatively defenseless.
