Car / Dash Cam

Featured Replies

I would like to share my four minutes of hell on the 118 from Chiangrai to Chiangmai.

Due to the video file size being full HD I can't load it directly to this topic so I have included my YouTube link . . .

Being a car and motorcycle member of "IAM RoadSmart" formerly know as the "Insititute of Advanced Motorist” this quality of driving really boils my piss; this all occurred within four minutes and only with luck no serious incident resulted from their stupidity

The last time I drove to Chiang Rai two busses from that same company passed me on a double solid line. I just stayed behind and watched them pass other cars on curves and hills where there was no chance whatever to avoid an accident if a car came from the other way. I told my wife that I was going to buy a dash cam and I did, however discretion being the better part of valor, I went through Phayao and Lampang on the way home. I drove over the road transports for 30 years in Canada and the U.S. and never saw anything like the driving here. I'm happy that you survived and didn't get caught up in a deadly accident.

Thanks for posting that video.     Since you say it was your  4 minutes of hell, I gather it was your vehicle that was struck by the car  that kept on going.

Can you say a little about that?    What resulted?

I always wonder why drivers in Thailand, be they Thais or falangs, are in such a hurry.     On a road such as you  show in your video, there is no way any driver could gain any appreciable gain in time  no matter how many times he or she  passed the car in front.

The actions of passing drivers really result from ignorance of  reality and facts.     Did anyone ever claim  drivers on  Thailand's roads have patience?

If that was me I sure wouldn't be following them so closely.

I would of to make sure the camera got the number plate so hopefully when or if making an insurance claim they know where to send the bill after you made the police report

Think it's No Fault insurance here but even it not who are they going to send the check to when you and your whole family are dead??

That looks like the section with the speed cameras. Hope at least the driver that hit you got a ticket.
