Dr. Surin suggests Thailand to increase competitiveness

BANGKOK, 6 July 2017, (NNT) - Former ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan has suggested that Thailand steadily and transparently raise its competitiveness by addressing the flaws of state administration.

The remarks were made during the second “Wittayalai Kanthap Sampan” academic seminar, which discussed how Thailand can achieve stability as an ASEAN country with support from the military. The seminar was attended by a large number of cadets from the Royal Thai Armed Forces.

Dr. Surin lectured the military cadets about the development of ASEAN and the obstacles encountered since its inception. He said the bloc has gained stability and global recognition, due to its various trade relations.

Dr. Surin asserted that Thailand should boost its competitiveness, in order to gain more stability. He stressed that the Kingdom must achieve greater competitiveness without sacrificing transparency and that the first area the nation should tackle is government bureaucracy.

The attendees were urged to exchange their knowledge and academic experiences, in order to push towards nationwide stability, prosperity, and sustainability.

For sure the cadets were ordered to attend to make up the numbers and listen to a bit of brainwashing.

Eliminating "undisclosed commissions" going to those within might make Thailand more competitive.

The military and its current junta has done quite the opposite and show no signs of changing.  It is rich that he is spouting such silliness to young people's whose jobs will probably stifle Thailand.

Why it's so complicated and difficult??? I can't understand. The General should use Section 44 and give orders. The vermin will obey....or they wouldn't ???

Coups are Thailand biggest deficit in becoming more competitive.

That's not fair!

I'm sure that Thai generals are the most politically competitive officers in the world.

Their special status in Thai society relieves them of a burdensome loyalty to the constitution.

They may not do well fighting foreign invaders but they sure know how to defeat the Thai people.

Their competitiveness reflects a consistent history of one coup about every 4 years that outnumbers elected governments.

No other country can match Thailand as the Hub of Coups.

did not say anything about young cadets fighting corruption where ever they might find it?

Sure it did, "...the first area the nation should tackle is government bureaucracy"
It's like a word scramble puzzle.  Some where in there spells corruption.

Thailand is in the top three as of 2016.

Apparently, the Top Three to date in coup d’Etats and attempted coups are:—

  1. Chile (37)
  2. Haiti (25)
  3. Thailand (21)
