The new labor law has had an impact on a number of companies and has seen a large number of foreign workers, mostly Burmese, leave the country.   In your opinion, is the move to tighten up the labor regulations a good or bad move on the part of the government?

I don't think that Thailand can remain competitive without importing labor, both at the low end and the high end.   Most Thais are not interested in hard, manual labor and they are not well educated enough to perform the more technical skills needed to expand the economy.   

 

It is a country that has spent a lot of time taking advantages of neighbors.   That may change.
