By The Nation

SUPHAN BURI: -- A man suspected of having a mental disorder was killed by a passenger train in Suphan Buri province on Monday morning.

The accident happened in Ban Nong Wal Priang in tambon Thunkkok, Song Phi Nong district shortly after the Suphan Buri-Bangkok train left Ban Bua Khao Station heading to Nakhon Pathom province.

The man was identified as Sommai Sibuathai, 60, a resident of Song Phi Nong.

The train driver, Sawat Hubsomboon, 52, told police he saw a man covering himself with a blanket standing next to the track so he used the train’s horn to alert him to move.

Sawat said he also slowed the train but the man did not move and was hit.

Sommai’s sister, Kamolowan Naklampha, 62, told police her brother behaved like a person with a mental disorder.

She asked him to see a doctor but he refused to.
