PHUKET: -- A Thai woman has warned tourists in a video to watch out for the "Special Yam" (spicy Thai style salad) on sale in a roadside stall in Patong, Phuket.

Even though she is Thai she had paid 200 baht for the dish and was told by the stall holder that was the regular price. If she wanted the "normal yam" it was only 100 baht.

The seller said it was all above board - that was the price. She had been selling it this way for the last six years, she added on the video now on the Kapook news site.

The poster of the video on "Youlike Clip Det" gave the warning about the price but saw the funny side after confronting the seller in good humor.

The sheer blunt cheerful attitude is amazing to me.

Standing up for your right is rare here and not well received by vendors and service providers.

I do however keep trying and holding mu group, over time I did learned to let go more

This is riveting stuff. So glad it's published as news.

I personally like a good Yam. But 200 baht up here would buy a Yam platter for 6.

Also always good letting first time visitors try a good Yam. "here try this salad"....

To me the most shocking part of all this is that "even though she is Thai" she had paid 200B

I wonder how she'd feel if she found out that a tourist could buy it for 100B :shock1:

Welcome to my world
