Baht closes at 33.66 baht/dollar, the strongest in 25 months

The Thai baht closed at 33.66 baht against the US dollar, the strongest in 25 months after the currency was trading between 33.73-33.75 baht/dollar throughout Monday (July 17), said Jitipol Puksamatanan, a currency and capital markets strategist of the Krung Thai Bank.

Magnitude 7.8 quake hits off Russia's Kamchatka - USGS

 

(Reuters) - A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.8 off Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula triggered a tsunami warning but the threat has now passed, the U.S. Geological Survey and U.S. Pacific Tsunami Center said.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that he hopes Yemen's war will not spark direct confrontation between Iran and Saudi Arabia and that they can work together to end the conflict in the country and Syria.

"Nok Air" upbeat as airline plans to increase international routes to China and Japan

68 percent of Thais are in debt: Nida Poll and Credit Bureau

PHUKET: -- As a temporary measure to help reduce accidents on Phuket’s notorious Patong Hill, officials from the Phuket Provincial Land Transport Office (PLTO) are to set up checkpoints on roads leading to and from the hill to monitor the condition of cars and drivers, check driver’s licenses and monitor alcohol levels of motorists.
