Facebook shares hit record high as mobile ad sales soar

(Reuters) – Facebook Inc reported steady and steep quarterly revenue growth on Wednesday, as the world’s largest social network attracted more advertising dollars to its mobile empire, sending its shares to an all-time high.

One dead, five critically hurt after thrown from ride at Ohio fair

 

(Reuters) - One person was killed and five others critically injured at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday when they were flung into air after their seats snapped off a ride that hoists and spins people, fire officials told local media.

France to speed up visa delivery in drive to boost tourism

PARIS (Reuters) - France will cut visa delivery time to 48 hours for Russians, Indians and citizens of six more Asian countries in a bid to boost tourism, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said on Wednesday.

China to speed up bullet trains in September - state media

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China plans to raise the speed of its bullet trains back up to 350 kph (217 mph), state media reported on Thursday, six years after a deadly high-speed rail crash prompted authorities to slow trains across the country.

Google drops Instant Search, adds annoying auto playing video to search results

BANGKOK: -- A former Chulalongkorn University professor gave THB15,000 in cash (USD450) out of his own pocket as a reward to Sumon Matidul, 50, the bus conductor who found and returned THB1.1 million cash (more than USD29,000) to a passenger, who showed his gratitude by rewarding her with just two bags of candy earlier this week.
