I consider this to be a very top hospital at affordable cost, and a Thailand leader in cancer treatment, this is based on personal experience

I am not Thai I live in the north I have been a patient for over a year, and am currently under four specialists, all leaders in their fields, and you get them for a fraction of the cost that you would pay at private hospitals for the same man !

I probably know this hospital better than many due to my time there, I am back there again for seven days at the end of this month

If I can be of assistance to any one please PM me and I will give my tel no

You are paying for service so in different queue/doctors than those being treated without paying.  Yes it is less expensive than most private hospitals but it is far from being free (which this thread was asking about) for those having to pay for service.

Not so in my case, same doctors, and I have to queue with the locals, who are seeing the same doctors

Yes one can go to out of hours clinics within the hospital, as well but then the queues are almost as long

I have four different consultants wait time has averaged 2/3 hrs, but then one time 30 mins early; one time I waited 41/2 hrs, I also arrive 2 hrs before stated time, like 7.30 am for 9.30 to 11.30 appointment, and one time waited until 13.30, I see my colorectal surgeon in normal hospital hours, next appointment  monday sept 3 9.30 to 11.30 am. I am in the queue and get no preference

My file pretty thick same  color as locals

MRI always on time, well so far

Colonoscopy last time waited in ward 3 hrs, waiting on bed ready to go

Radiology could wait upto three hours some days, and then the computer has to be rebooted so another hour

Ultrasound last time on time

Xrays generally on demand 1 hr wait

Blood tests 30 mins wait

Pharmacy can be one hour

If you can not deal with waiting go home and wait for NHS in UK, OR PAY BIG dollars

Small penalties for excellent care at very affordable cost, often nominal, consultants 300/400 bhat, if someone (expats) can not afford these costs they should not be here

OP was inquering about Thai patients and specifically whether they could get treated there for free.

They can, but only if registered there  under that scheme or referred there by the hospital where they are registered.

Obviously the OP poster is interested in Chulalongkorn specifically, and rather a simple yes or no; personally I like to give the OP a little more information so he can evaluate his options as fully as possible, I also believe what is posted on open forum should be for the better education of TV members generally, and the title of this thread is Chulalongkorn Uni Hospital

I personally feel it is very close on many things to being free, and the important thing is to get locked into the system at Chula at which stage as a Thai it is likely to become almost totally free, all the bills issued, mine included, show the amount that can be claimed back by eligible Thai citizens

If I pass on my positive feelings maybe the OP will make a greater effort to go there, and on TV I probably have as much actual up to date experience of how things work there, as anyone

Yes I have received wonderful treatment there, and feel I have a moral duty to pass on positive feelings, we all know of many bad experiences in Thai hospitals,

We are in a world of too many negative people, and by sharing positive thinking maybe we can influence the way people look at things

Positive thinking, and happiness are all important elements of medical cures, and ones general well being, life is not as simple as yes or no !
