"Beer pretties" arrested for doing their job - selling beer!

Three beer pretties have had their mug shots taken after being arrested for doing their job.

Saraburi police hauled them in after they said they had fallen foul of laws prohibiting the promotion of alcohol by inviting people to have a drink.

One of the girls said on Facebook: "There's a beer promotion on. Buy one get one free. But be sure to be there before 9pm".

Sanook reported that police arrested them for inviting the public to have a drink in a Saraburi pub - and the cops were unhappy that they were "inappropriately dressed" on Facebook too.

They were all charged under the 2008 law forbidding inviting people to drink alcohol.

Thaivisa notes that celebrities were recently warned not to be pictured with alcoholic drinks as that may constitute a crime.

Ah, the infamous 'Stickboy' recently tweeted that he thought all this was supposed to be illegal. Few people tweeted back not to jinx it. Here we are.

Good to see the police working hard. Thailand's morality stays intact. Meanwhile, the Red Bull killer..................

How can you be 'inappropriately dressed' on a social media platform? Displaying inappropriate images maybe.

And I wonder what happened to the bar owner who hired them, don't see any mention of that or did the girls take it upon themselves to advertise on FB?

The big problem I have with targeting girls like this is that if it is indeed that illegal for people to discuss their jobs, how can the breweries/distilleries employ them, even on a temporary basis?

Mind blown (again)..................

They just need to change the word beer to water. Beer companies do make water after all.

As long as there is a promotion selling water there is no problem. Apart from the fact everyone orders the half price beer...

The same companies with a monopoly on alcohol.

That seems like a good lateral-thinking idea!

Now if they put the word "water" in inverted commas as I have just done, it would make it more obvious what is really being promoted without breaking the law.

However, whether the police would accept that is another matter.

B500 fine for fighting and wielding a large knife and attacking a car so I guess these three will be looking at life in prison for such disgusting behaviour.

Then there's the issue of them being "inappropriately dressed" on Facebook which will be much much worse.

I doubt we'll see these pretties again :-(

Fire objects like darts or ping-pong balls from the vagina, it's ok so long as that is a 'protected' venue...invite some passers by to try beers = crime. Is it  surprising that some /many shake their heads? ( I don't mind either act, just object to the bare-faced hypocrisy involved).

So all the girls standing outside the bars on walking street in Pattaya or all the other bars in Thailand, Nana, cowboy, Patong Phuket are ?

...inviting you to sit down, relax  and take the weight off your legs. It's just coincidence they happen to have beer (and other things) on sale too.

Asking for bribes is also illegal, but every policeman in Thailand does it every day.:cheesy:

Now don't go posting that on FB, or you'll get an "invite" for some re-education.
