Police Inspector General to discuss position-buying problem with reform body

BANGKOK, 9 August 2017 (NNT) – The Office of the Police Inspector General has readied to discuss probes into 3 police officers involved in position buying at a police reform meeting, intent on improving the process.

Police Inspector General Pol Gen Panya Mamen said he has prepared all collected information on position buying within the Provincial Police Region 8 Headquarters for discussions with the Police Reform Commission headed by Gen Boonsarng Niempradit.

Pol Gen Panya said his office’s work in the matter is complete and any remaining investigations are to be carried out by Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Suthep Dechraksa.

On other areas where complaints of position buying and corruption have turned up, the inspector general said he has received no commands for probes, assuring that his office is open to calls for inspection.

not just the police, every govt department involves buying your position and always has, this will be a white wash as no one wants the truth to come out, there goes all their extra income if it does

Isn't Mamen the top cop who initially assured us the the headman son and brother were the Koh Tao murderers, and then promptly got removed to make way for the scapegoating?

Maybe he just wants another quick transfer?

Position buying is a necessity: only positions that are inherently influential and important are being bought. How else to ensure that a prospective buyer will use the position for the common good, than by pricing it so high that only already wealthy people can afford it, thereby making the notion to abuse the position for personal gain void. Just imagine what would happen if the job goes to somebody  with merit, but without means: the system would crash like a minivan, the country would sink like a submarine and the people would stop looking for lottery numbers to help them buy a position! Utter chaos.

I wonder to myself how much did it cost Police Inspector General Pol Gen Panya Mamen to buy his position. I imagine the size of the envelope would have been mind boggling.

Anything to make the process more efficient - and quieter.
