PHUKET: Two vehicles crashed into a traffic island this morning (Aug 12) in two separate incidents, just 150 metres from each other.

Police say the people involved in the crashes suffered only minor injuries.

Lt Boonserm Srimora of Thalang Police received report that a car had crashed into the traffic island in front of Home Pro in Thalang on Thepkrasattri Rd at 7am this morning (Aug 12)

Lt Boonserm arrived at the scene to find the Toyota Altis metered taxi had come to rest in the southbound lane.

The taxis in Phuket have meters??

About 12 years ago, in East Pattaya, 2 people were killed only 30 minutes apart after hitting the same pothole ! Admittedly it happened at night, so the City Road Crew could not be faulted in any way :(

First case

Quote
The road was slippery as it was raining. So he pressed the brakes to slow down the car. This caused him to lose control of his vehicle and it went on to the traffic island and collided with a tree,” Lt Boonserm explained.

Second case

Quote
He said there was water on the road and the road was slippery. He lost control of his vehicle. He crashed to the traffic island and hit a tree stump. The right tire blew out during the crash,” Lt Boonserm added.

Time to  ban traffic islands and trees.

They tested negative for alcohol... all good then, just another case of driving without due care and attention to road conditions.... etc etc, as the king of Siam, was want to say

Nothing 'accidental' about these CRASHES.

Probably a foreign traffic island and tree had infiltrated the road

Rain again is the cause of these crashes... as both drivers tested negative for DUI...

Is there such a thing as Driving without due care and attention or even Reckless/Dangerous driving in LOS, obviously speed was not a factor, oh well maybe one day when they bother with real driver training and an actual real  competence based driving test...

... and brakes, and rain. Just don't blame the drivers.
