Acrimonious Divorce

I have just reviewed the below site and no where does it state a foreigner can own a house in their own name.

 

If anyone can provide a link to a formal Thai law which states differently I would very much appreciate seeing it.

It's baffling to me that so many people in the developed world are getting married i.e. a woman and a man in the UK, for example.  Almost always one of them will end up financially worse off when the divorce comes.  And it's a statistical fact there that 2 out of 3 marriages end in divorce.  So the person entering into the marriage with the most money/assets is 66% likely to give away half of their worth.

 

At least in Thailand there is the issue of visas so the foreign guys have some sort of excuse/justification for getting married.  But if you are getting married partly to make your visa situation easier then really that's no different to the wife subsequently getting divorced to make her financial situation easier.

 

Unless you don't have many assets, or can hide your assets, don't get married.  It's common sense.

Interesting point of view however totally irrelevant and not on topic. If you wish to debate the merits of marriage and what you can hide please start another thread.

Like I was told and have come to believe.  There are 1000 more Thai women just around the corner.  So keep the chin up and work through your issue with the thought of a better future.

Good luck OP. I wish you the best. There are many guys who have reported getting a fair deal in court, but a few of the suggestions here to avoid court would be good to try. As has been said, money is all they want and the quicker the better.

If silly farangs didn't get married to the wrong Thai women, there wouldn't be any need for a divorce forum, so warning those not yet been silly, but thinking of being silly is a fair enough in a thread on a subforum about divorce.

I don't know that all your kitchen appliances would add up to too much ?  fridge 25k ,  stove 30k ?  ...   not big money .. not worth losing sleep over.
