From the other side of the coin as a resort owner.  I encourage my Guests to check the Guest's Reviews on the website and to look at our rating and comments.  If they are still unhappy with whatever is bothering them (and they can be wide and varied, believe you me - what you have mosquitoes in Thailand!   What there are snakes in Thailand!  What there are little gekos around!  What the birds begin singing early in the morning!  et al).  I try to solve whatever the issue is and if I cannot, I point out that others have been very happy with out resort, but of course, if you wish, you may check out, without refund!  Some people are just born to wind you up and think they can get away with it.  Not all of them are called Allen of course.

We have a motel and apartments and know your problem

You need to become a Basil Fawlty but without Sybil !!!!'

You are lucky you got 400 "" baht back if I the owner you would not get a refund. This is business not charity. Use some common sense. :passifier:

I always check everything before paying. Thai beds are often as hard as nails, particularly away from popular tourist areas.

True, i would say it relates to Thai people who can easily sleep on the floor anyway, most westerners would find it difficult or in my case impossible!

You should have checked the room before paying. You were indeed lucky to get anything back. Many beds in Thailand in cheaper rooms are rock hard. Live and learn.

I checking into a guesthouse in Krabi Town which seemed nice, i took a shower unpacked a bit then went out for a 2 hour came back at 3:00pm and sat in bed and realized it was hard as rock!  It was ridiculous and i realize i could not sleep and had to leave. The owner was indignant and only refunded 200 out of the 600 baht. Which i think is unfair. Do you think i can contact the tourist police and they would help get my money back?

Lets see, you joined or made your first post because you only got back 200 of 600 baht because the bed was to hard.

You're thinking about going to the police to report that you have been robbed of $12.

Good luck,

Rule number one. Always check out the room properly before deciding to part with your money. Saves a lot of hassle later.

I cannot believe that someone would join this forum just to complain about the loss of 400 baht. I do suspect that someone may have started it to get the post count up today. Let's see how many pages it can run. Already 28 followers.

So you paid around AUD 23.00 for a room which you showered in and now want a refund ......

jeeze .....   some folks are just too cheap.

Your lucky to get anything back ...

On some level you might think that such a dufus submission cannot possibly be real. The piece could equally be titled, Kowsan Farang wants his 150 Baht Back- call out the Guard!

Beat em up on Tripadvisor!

Actually you did well getting anything back after having the room for a few hours and an early check-in.

You can lodge a complaint with TAT , but they keep increasing tourist arrivals irrespective so you must be the only person unhappy in Thailand.

I guess you seem not being reasonable for 2 reasons:

a- first, what do you expect when you paid 600 bath. it's a guesthouse....a sh** hole, for me

b- the second, you used the bathroom and kept the keys for hours.... Thus, the room must be cleaned. that's  a cost for the hotel.

Once , i paid 1200 and i wasn't sure about the room, i left my luggage in the reception and went upstairs to check...I didn't like it. I got my money back and  left to a better hotel....

Actually I would even pay a premium to have a hard bed compared to a soft mattress that sinks in the middle:unsure:

I once went to whore house pick a lady undressed her had a shower with her and finally touch her bust find them too hard to my taste (may be it was silicon jelly gone hard).  I wanted a refund the guy said ok, ok, he opened the drawer took out a pistol  put it on one side(not threatening me but I was not comfortable with that),  he started counting the bills then asked me again do I still wanted a refund.

I said, oh i think I will just go for a coffee and walked out. Real story you may not believe me.

Well i think you guys are very wrong.

1) The customer is always right. It is called buyer's remorse. In comparison, traveling in India or Nepal is very different, for example i spent 3.5 weeks in a guesthouse last year and never paid a rupee until i left when i paid the whole bill.  Staff always smiled and never look worried. Room was bit cheaper but a bit better too.

2)  Think about buying RE in my country. A seller can be sued months after closing because of defects of house. So you can not expect someone to completely check out a guest house room in 5 minutes.   Yes perhaps i could have check the mattress thickness more closely. Still, if someone only spend 20 minutes in a room the smart owner will just refund and say sorry or face possible bad word of mouth advertising.
