BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said Monday he was not worried after a private organisation petitioned the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for probe over the flight of ex-premier Yingluck Shinawatra out of the country.

Gen Prawit’s reaction came after Srisuwan Janya, secretary-general of the Association of Thai Constitution Protection Organsiation, petitioned the NACC today, accusing senior government officials’ failure to prevent Yingluck from fleeing the country.

In the petition, he held Gen Prawit and national police chief responsible for Yingluck’s escape, saying this demonstrated negligence of official duties under the anti-graft and related laws.

Of course he is not worried, he has given himself immunity!

Don't you just love it when people who aren't governed by the law are the biggest boosters of law and order? And brag about their non-concern? Doesn't it just give you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside?

What a man!

Immunity AND he can simply have anyone he wants locked away or killed. No flies on him...

I wish I could just drop a huge ball in my job and then say, "I'm not worried about it" knowing full well I'm in no trouble.

I'd probably never care about about anything I did. No need to.

Dropping the ball would have been preventing her escape.  Her flight is helpful for the junta.  Their political foe is now a fugitive from "justice" and they garner no more pressure from the outside world, the only thing they really fear.

same activists asked about a probe in the disappearance of the Democracy Plaque, and that quieted down real fast...

it's what happens when you demand this government to investigate itself, but who else is there to ask?

The longer that this goes on without any concrete news of her, the more worried I get, what do you think will happen if it does turn out that they've disappeared her?

It doesn't bear thinking about. And watching over the years just how stupid this lot are it could be a real possibility........

Thought that too until someone mentioned that if there is a possility of her having been disappeared, it likely wouldn't be a "no comment" situation from the Thaksin residence in Dubai as Reuters reported.

We already know the Junta has nothing to fear from the NACC! Anyway, as mentioned before, they are covered by the amnesty they granted themselves.....

As far as I remember, they are not even hand-picked by the Junta, as it is still the "old team". They are just part of the ammart network of people who appointed each other during previous years. The true lackeys will be hand-picked by the Junta before elections, as well as the members of other agencies and committees.

Actually, the system is quasi-irreversible:

- you define a system in which new members are appointed by other appointed people (ex the New EC members will be nominated by a committee composed by NACC's and other agencies' members and approved by Senate, etc...)

- you initiate the system by appointing all members according to some characteristic (for example, they like a particular colour)

- then the network will self-perpetuate by appointing new members with the same characteristics as the old members.
