Thai "pretty" who went topless online did it to get cash for mum and dad

BANGKOK: -- A Thai pretty at the center of a row about going topless on Facebook has defended her actions.

Maeya, 23, said she needs money for her mum and dad and brothers and sisters.

Celebrities do it all the time she said. If they can do it, why not me.

Maeya and her close friend Nam had been paid by a company to reveal their assets for a football website.

But high profile human rights lawyer Songkan Achariyasap took up the case and launched a complaint with Bang Khen police in Bangkok.

Yesterday Maeya went on a popular TV show on Channel 3 to defend her actions.

Wearing a face mask she said she used to do work as a pretty at motor racing. She is not married and doesn't even have a boyfriend, she told the presenter.

The promotion company promised more money if her and her friend took off their tops so they did.

She said she was only getting income for her parents and siblings and other celebs did it all the time without facing arrest.

She really didn't see what all the fuss was about and had no idea there might be penalties for showing her breasts.

Why all the fuss? The streets of many metros in Thailand are cramped with bikini hotties selling their bodies....

Looks like some fat corrupt people of "law" are looking to make a fast buck out of the issue...

What she mean this is worse then 9 pelvic thrusts just ask the PM !

And why did this high profile human right lawyer complaint to the police.

Get he slammed by his wife caught looking at the video again and again?

Or did the wife asked money to make her t.....s the same size?

As far as I know showing your breast is not a violation of Human rights.

The virtuous Prayut is presently distracted by Yingluck otherwise he would be right on to this giving it his full scrutiny.

Probably because he's "the president of the network against the undermining of national monarchism" (translation from Thai in Daily News). I have my doubts if he's a human rights lawyer in the sense that we understand the role.

Interesting case to study

Any profitable enterprise that is considered as vice and does not go through the normal channels of procurers, mama sans, established venues all making considerable payoffs to the local police station will feel the full weight of the law. Vice is a police-authorised industry only. Private entrepreneurs are not welcome. Ditto drug dealing. Ditto moonshine. Ditto vaping. Money number one.

If you can't bring children up in a respectable manner don't have them. These parents are shameful and it's pimping out your daughter. They all should be warned. But this is Thai culture and they say pros are illegal.  Yes sure

Your not good for Buddhism and the Thai culture should be respected

Wrong, very wrong. Violence is okay but beautiful women taking their close off?  Just terrible.

Both will survive the exposure of such beautiful things.

say that to all the prostitutes and bar girls, oh wait the police don't do anything about that...

It's a poorly written article...it seems that the lawyer is defending her, not prosecuting her.

Interesting post. And you are not aware of any young Thai (male or female) who was not told by family members: we brought you up, now it's your turn to pay back, no matter how?

oh yes. Must be sure to gather all the images and study them closely

Perhaps she could've avoided all that fuzz if only she had worn a face mask during her topless photo session, the very same mask she now so desperately seems to need to protect her identity.

Well the way I see it her parents should be jailed for being poor which forced their daughter to commit such a horrible  spectacle.

soft target, much easier than going after real( and dangerous) criminals

now she will have to be flashing her tits to pay the fine

I think "doing whatever necessary to get money for your family and making mom and dad happy" is as much part of Thai culture as following moralistic rules and often outweighing them.

No "deadly sins" in Buddhism either, AFAIK...

the technical term is "substantized adjective"

Not sure about that. Why not say working as a model?
