Hi. Just a quick question. I am getting married and i have read all the things that are needed but i read that i would need to call the local amphur where i plan to get married before hand to confirm that they are accepting registrations because you need to state where you plan to get married.

If you start the process and say you are getting married in Chantaburi for instance but they are not accepting any new registrations then you need to go through the process again.

Anybody know if this is true?

Thanks

Unless you speak conversational Thai, don't bother calling them yourself.

Surely you will have delegated that task to the beloved?

She should also be asked to ascertain exactly what documentation you need, and check that you have it all.

All I had to do was turn up and sign the paper.

That doesn't even make any sense to me. Who are you telling where you are going to get married? If it's the embassy, they may want your address in Thailand, but where you get married is nothing to do with them.

Same with the place in Bkk ( forget the name of the office ) where you get legalized copies.

We tried in Bkk first but had a documentation problem and got married in Pattaya instead, but no need to "start again".

On another note. Got all my translations done.

While i was in the office i mentioned that the numbers below my photo page on the tranlation didnt match.

I was informed that the changes were to correlate with my original passport.

Needless to say it got sent back to me 2 days later highlighting the issue and also another mistake which regarded the translation of the signature part of the the thai womans name who works at the UK embassy in Bkk.

Amazing Thailand!
