I am right behind this but I see one issue. There is a connection to the MRT through the stop at Bang Seu but I see no connection to the BTS.  (Someone correct me if I am wrong). I would hope there could be a way to connect to the BTS for the thousands that would need to get to Airports this way.

Don't worry.  The artist pictures do not even show bullet trains.  In Thailand, "High Speed " rail frequently means the speed that trains in UK have been travelling at for 100 years instead of the more leisurely Thai meter gauge rate of movement.  Trains in UK could hit 100MPH (162kph) a hundred years ago.  Flying Scotsman etc!!!  Re money.  Maybe this sensible one will take priority over the rather speculatively useful  (being polite here)  BKK - Korat line.

Yes indeed Steven it certainly is positive planning. But as usual a plan without money or the will or the ability to actually do it. Thailand is famous for creating and blabbing on about great ideas such as this but is also famous for not having the wherewithal to see them through. All talk as usual....you should know that by now.

 

And no Steven, I have no plan on moving just to make you happy. That is about the fifth time you have suggested that. In case you didn't realise this is a FORUM where people should be able to express their own personal opinions with out the childish "get out town comments" from the likes of you.

Excellent news, a sample of public works wisdom can be witnessed on Siam Country Road; I assume that's what they've chosen as an underground railway station with 70, lest 80 tracks - by the duration of the (unfinished) surface work and all the construction equipment costing daily rents while silently rusting towards the next decade.

Wasn't there supposed to be a high speed link already planned going from Hua Hin to Rayong via swampy & Pattaya, has that been ditched now?.

 

I don't see any powerlines or a 3rd rail...
They have or forgotten the power supply or they are running on a nuclear reactor???

I also don't see windows for the driver... They probably don't need a driver... Everything computer controlled, using a Thai copied version of Windows XP ???

If you drew a face on the front of those trains they would look like this

I can see the need for linking BKK and DM; the rest, not so much.  Be nice if some of the money was earmarked for Pattaya infrastructure improvements and a public transportation system.

Not in a thousand years there is enough demand for such a line to operate profitably (considering how expensive the fares would probably be). Plus the station in Pattaya would almost certainly be located in the middle of nowhere, where it will be a pricey hassle to get to / from (The Taxi Mafia is already salivating).

The MRT connects to the BTS at Chatuchak, Sukhumvit and Silom. Makkasan is 1 stop on Airport Link to the BTS Phaya Thai

I think the hope is that private investors (Chinese/Japanese/Korean) would construct and operate the line. The Thai government would be a facilitator; granting permits and removing those in the path of the route. Profits would be shared and/or a fee paid for an operating licence.

Connecting neatly into the BTS would be far too obvious! Best to build it a decent walk away like Makkasan/Petchaburi MRT. In keeping with Prayuth's wish to make Thais fitter and healthier.

The front is shaped like an aeroplane to make it aerodynamic .If it had flat nose like the picture the drag would tear it apart
