I love it. When I am next in some woke <deleted> hole, like the UK or US, I think I'll do the same thing. Thinking again US cops will probably shoot you for using the wrong restroom. When I was a student the girls used to come in and inspect the knobs in the local nightclubs. It was actually pretty funny....I couldn't even pee from anxiety. I lived in Japan for a long time and visited frequently.....our favourite nightclub had unisex toilets. It's not such a big thing really.

Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't know for certain and so I don't believe it. If it costs 30K, I want at least 60K in tax savings.....and with Thailand's ever changing tax and immigration laws I don't trust the Elite visa or whatever it is called now, and it's provisions for tax lasting 10 long years. Best to not be a tax resident.....spend 179 days here and don't bother about taxes, you don;t even need to file....then if anyone wants your TIN number....show them your passport 179 day in Thailand, 179 days in Bali, and a few days in Mauritius. -
Moron Zelensky looking for ww3. A Victory Plan? Give me a break. This is like going bankrupt.....it starts slowly and then really quickly..... a few more miles in Donbass then a few down to Odessa against a depleted demoralised beaten army, undermanned and outgunned, where all the money goes to senior staff in corruption.

Thailand’s Business Ease Ranking Plummets in Asia-Pacific: Survey
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Things are looking up, poverty will be eradicated in 2 years......and don't tell me the economy is not going to boom then despite excessive bureaucracy and corruption in the land of smiles. -
I travel with a huge pharmacy of antibiotics, but not for taking before I go, I carry them in case I get an infection while I am in Thailand. The doctors here are not very good with antibiotics....dispensing amoxycillin by the bag full and it has tons of resistant strains. Augmenting gives me explosive diarrhoea so I don't carry that. I like to carry a course of 2nd or 3rd gen oral ceps, a course of doxycycline, ciprofloxacin and metronidazole. ag full of amoxycillin given by Thai doctors and never used. I use it if I get an access under a tooth.

I tried it 3 times when it was launched but wasn't too impressed with the output. I couldn't see me using it if I was working as I was concerned with the mistakes in the results.

For me Tramadol is the best pain killer on the market......for certain types of pain. I have neuropathic pain in my feet, subsequent to diabetes. I take lots of meds, and I can honestly say, if I forget to take my tramadol I know I haven't taken it. It is the only one that I know for certain works. It isn't dangerous in doses below 200mg b.i.d. I have taken 100 b.i.d. for the past 14 years or so. Regarding addiction, there is almost zero risk unto a total dosage of 400mg/day. Tramadol has given me mobility and in warm weather almost pain free feet. I'm old anyway, and if I got addicted I wouldn't care.

Thailand Embraces Larger Super Yachts to Boost Marine Tourism
retarius replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Good another hub.....hub of large marinas. I've been on super yachts and they don't like mooring in less that exclusive places like Porto Fino, Monte Carlo or Puerto Banus. I certainly never saw one parked in the marina I used to use. -

Chula university cancels launch of book critical of Thai military

Who could possibly find anything to criticise about the Thai military. Pure as the driven snow, they are. -
Burmese man condemned for preaching Christianity to Buddhist novices
retarius replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I swear if there is one lot of people we need to rid ourselves of, it is these religious nut jobs. The world would be a happier place if proselytising was prohibited. -
Funnily enough, I have lost my love of 24/7 music. I can't stand radio....ignorant DJs prattling on....I never have music on in the car. I like to select the music I listen to and so use Spotify extensively and have created play lists but rarely listen. My brain has changed and I am now only able to cope with one thing at a time....with music on I can't even read.

Thailand to borrow 2.59 trillion baht for 2025 budget

The fiscal budget is 3.75 trillion baht, and the borrowing is 2.59 trillion baht? Am I reading this correctly? -
High cholesterol as a pre-existing condition?
retarius replied to JontS's topic in Insurance in Thailand
On the contrary, I understand that I don't know everything. I self insure because I don't trust insurance companies, after all they are in business to fleece the customer and rack up the profits. The other thing I know is that I have diabetes, high- cholesterol, high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Given the non-customer oriented goals of the health insurance business, I am not at all convinced that if I have a major crisis like stroke or MI, the insurer will not deny my claim on the basis of prior disease exclusions. So I know these things, and I have asked insurance companies through their salespeople if they will cover a major illness given my prior history, the majority of the salespeople say, 'yes, no problem'....the minority say they will have to check. The problem with the yes-men only appears when you ask for them to put this into writing as part of the policy. -
I saw the Labour Cabinet's approval; ratings. Starmer lost 48 points since the election (the most of anyone). Rachel Reeves also lost big time. The honey moon didn't last long. Starmer's rating (I'm sure is was an aberration) was lower that Boris's when he was kicked out. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/sep/21/honeymoon-over-keir-starmer-now-less-popular-than-rishi-sunak

Violent End to Gathering: Man Shoots Two in Pathum Thani
retarius replied to Georgealbert's topic in Bangkok News
You might be surprised but if you go to a party, in my experience quite a few Thais (as many as 1:3) can be carrying guns. Usually tucked in the waist band at the back and covered with a jacket. At the next wedding party you go to ask a good Thai friend to bring some of his friends behind a shed in a quiet area and some the armament. I found out at a house warming and was shocked. -
Do you owe money?
retarius replied to simon43's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I owe not a single dime to anyone.....and haven't in the last 30 years, not even a mortgage. I had a mortgage in my 20s and told myself this was the last debt I was ever going to have....I paid it off in 8 years instead of 30. Never had a car payment either. Credit cards, rarely used but paid off each month, with no exceptions. -
Body of Man Found with Throat Slit in Apartment, Najomtien
retarius replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
I haven't lived in the West for many years, but I don't recall any murders where throats were slit. It's with a bit up close and personal and scary....wouldn't a gun with silencer be as effective and would put some distance between the criminal and victim. It has a metallic smell from the iron, but I've never been able to smell the stuff. Taste, yes, after dental work. -
