  1. You know, when I posted I thought, should I explain I'm being sarcastic, but then I thought no-one would be stupid enough to think I was being serious. How wrong I was.
  2. Yes. They were handing out anti-LGBT posters too. Fox is virulently anti-Pride.
  3. As I explained in a previous post I was being sarcastic but unfortunately it went over some people's heads.
  4. Just a violent ultra right-wing, highly convicted felon. "Wants his country back" means nothing. A few highlights. "Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon (born Stephen Christopher Yaxley, 27 November 1982), better known as Tommy Robinson, is a British anti-Islam campaigner, convicted criminal, and one of the UK’s most prominent far-right activists. He was a political advisor to former UK Independence Party (UKIP) leader Gerard Batten. Robinson has been active in far-right politics for many years. He was a member of the British National Party (BNP), a neo-fascist and white nationalist political party, from 2004 to 2005. For a short time in 2012, he was joint vice-chairman of the far-right British Freedom Party (BFP). He co-founded the far-right English Defence League (EDL) in 2009 and led it until 8 October 2013. In 2015, he became involved with the development of Pegida UK, a now-defunct British chapter of the German far-right Pegida. From 2017 to 2018, he wrote and appeared in videos on the Canadian far-right website Rebel News. Robinson has been convicted for multiple crimes involving violence, stalking, financial and immigration fraud, drug possession, public order offences, and contempt of court. He has served at least four separate prison terms: for assault in 2005, for using false travel documents to enter the United States in 2012, for mortgage fraud in 2014, and 13 months in 2018 for contempt of court after publishing a Facebook Live video of defendants entering a law court (contravening a court order that disallows reporting on such trials while proceedings are ongoing). In August 2018, due to procedural errors, he was released on bail pending a new hearing. In July 2019, he was again found guilty of contempt of court at the retrial and was committed at the Old Bailey to nine months in prison․ Before his sentencing, he appeared on the American far-right website InfoWars to appeal for political asylum in the U.S. He was released from prison on 13 September 2019 after nine weeks. In July 2021, Robinson was found to have libelled a 15-year-old refugee at a school in Huddersfield and was ordered to pay £100,000 plus legal costs, although he had filed for bankruptcy in March 2021. In October 2021, he was made subject to a five-year stalking order for harassing journalist Lizzie Dearden and her partner. "....but lost his job when he was convicted of assaulting an off-duty police officer in a drunken argument. He served a 12-month prison sentence." "Robinson has appeared masked at protests. Although Robinson repeatedly insisted from the early days of the organisation that the EDL was "against the rise of radical Islam" and that its members "aren't against Islam", its rank and file were noted for including football hooligans and members who described themselves as anti-Muslim." "Robinson was convicted in 2011 of using "threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour" during a fight between supporters of Luton Town and Newport County in Luton the previous year. Robinson reportedly led the group of Luton fans, and played an integral part in starting a 100-man brawl, during which he chanted "EDL till I die". He was sentenced to a 12-month community rehabilitation order with 150 hours' unpaid work and a three-year ban from attending football matches." "On 29 September 2011, Robinson was convicted of common assault after headbutting a fellow EDL member at a rally in Blackburn in April that year.[1][18] He was sentenced to 12 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for 12 months."
  5. "rough round the edges . Lol You might want to read this first. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Robinson_(activist)
  6. "It is often stated that the Union Flag should only be described as the Union Jack when flown in the bows of a warship, but this is a relatively recent idea. From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. In 1908, a government minister stated, in response to a parliamentary question, that "the Union Jack should be regarded as the National flag." - Flag Institute So, although the term originates from seafare it's not just for a flag that's on a vessel now. Churchill also referred to it as the Union Jack.
  7. Demonstrably untrue. There'll be thousands of them flown during Euro 2024in a couple of weeks. No one will think they're all racist.
  8. I know. I was referring to the "British Christians" not Fox. And I was being sarcastic. I'd have thought that was obvious. And I'm English.
  9. Guess who else was there. Race and religious war the target.
  10. And there's the Euros 2024 too. Lots of flag waving without the racism.
  11. I think Robinson gets a bad rap. He's only upholding the British values of intolerance, racism, xenophobia, violence and stupidity. 🙂 Anyway, they'll have to move over soon, it's the Pride march. Show them how it should be done.
  12. Pretty clear cut. I wish the authorities would get serious with these people.
  13. A pension is not a perk. It's a legal entitlement that's based on 35 years or more of contributions. There are no other perks.
  14. That's idiotic. If we all returned home all our pensions would be uprated and we would all get higher pensions which the taxpayers including yourself would have to fund. Not to mention all the U.K.benefits that are denied us. Be careful what you wish for.
  15. If the reason is that some pensioners living abroad don't contribute to the U.K.economy (not always true as many like myself pay U.K. tax), then pay the increases only as credits. These credits can be only for U.K. purchases, thereby contributing to the U.K. 's benefit. Purchases could for instance be Treasury Bonds or Premium bonds which would benefit the U.K. government substantially. Even if they were 0% they would be an advantage. Perhaps with a minimum 5 year holding. It'll never happen of course. The reason they do it is because they know they can get away with it.
  16. It's now the American people who are on trial. If they vote for a convicted felon, which I understand they can, then they deserve all that's coming. Like the UK and Brexit.
  17. Chalk and cheese. There's legal precedent for a second referendum vote. There's none for throwing out an election result because you don't agree with it. In fact in some countries a first referendum is sometimes ratified by a second one. I think Denmark and Ireland have done this.
  18. True, but then you avoid them, ignore them, don't engage with them. But George says he watches them and clearly tries to analyze them. If they approach you or pester you it's a different matter of course.
  19. Why do other people's lives interest you?
  20. It's black and white in some counties and not so clear in others. And things change. A few years ago I wouldn't have thought twice about retiring in Malaysia but these days I'm not so sure. It's only people discussing something. What's your problem with that?
  21. Which is the main thrust of the podcast. It's clear that in some countries gay people are not welcome and may face hostility. Hence the discussion.
  22. I think calling gays fa***ts is a bit more than not openly advocating for them. Also LGBT is not a religion. Also Thais didn't make Buddhism, they adopted a school which comes from Sri Lanka via India.
