So ...your on the downhill run
Baht Simpson replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Years ago one of my work colleagues collapsed and died on the way to his retirement reception. It opened my eyes and I vowed to retire early, which I did at 49. I doubt whether I would have reached normal retirement age otherwise. I've never been the gregarious type so I enjoy the quiet life. Having a bucket list just introduces more stress so I don't have one. The only place I'd like to go to is Japan. As long as I have nice place to live I'm content. -
If he'd been caught on a couple of years overstay at 76 I'd say treat him with kid gloves as he might be struggling. The problem is he started overstay at 65, so he must have been fully aware of what he was doing and was deliberately and knowingly breaking the law for 12 years. 65 is coincidentally the age that he would have been entitled to a U.K. State Pension, determined by his qualifying years so he probably had some cash. There might be some extenuating circumstances but I don't see why he wouldn't get an extension which he easily qualified for. There must be a reason why he wanted to stay under the radar.

Well Moonlover , I can't vouch for where you are but here that's demonstrably untrue. Some people are wearing masks and some aren't, so it's obviously a personal choice. Even during Covid here not everyone wore a mask, it depended on circumstances. In shops or on songthaews fair enough. Outside, on your own perhaps not.

When the farang do gooders take over
Baht Simpson replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
What a strange take. With the advances in LGBT+ rights in the last ten years, including equal marriage, parent rights etc. no wonder Gen-Z ers are more comfortable in expressing their sexuality. I'm surprised it's not more. And there are always going to be one or two who incorrectly claim they're gay. But remember these are straight people. As a rule people don't queue up to be victimized. -
Quite! Why is it anyone else's business. It's bizarre that it upsets people. Poor old Rooster.

Uganda parliament passes bill to jail gay people
Baht Simpson replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The bill could still be vetoed although that's looking unlikely now. Chillingly Musa Ecweru has stated that they will "....reinforce the law enforcement officers..." to deal with homosexuals, so it seems like it's going to be an all-out attack on the LGBT community. Why the Transport Minister has this brief is unclear. -

Many don't and some aren't Muslim. Last year Singapore repealed their gay sex prohibition. Some other counties may follow suit. That's the difference here. -

Equality is not propaganda. Majorities are often against equality. -

Musa Ecweru has stated explicitly that he will make sure that "...there will be no space for homosexuals in Uganda." -

That reminds me, I must renew my gay permit. ???? I see what you're trying to get at but on the day that an independent enquiry released a scathing report on institutionalised homophobia in the U.K. Met. Police I'm afraid my opprobrium remains. -
What Sunscreen Do You Use and Why Do You Like Your Brand?
Baht Simpson replied to connda's topic in General Topics
I don't have a "team". I just have a personal opinion. Don't project other people's views on me. It doesn't make sense anyway. I'm not telling people to avoid the sun. If I did there wouldn't be any need for sunscreen would there? -

This article from Harvard might help. https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/6-things-you-should-know-about-vitamin-d "Use of sunscreen. Sunscreen prevents sunburn by blocking UVB light. Theoretically, that means sunscreen use lowers vitamin D levels. But as a practical matter, very few people put on enough sunscreen to block all UVB light, or they use sunscreen irregularly, so sunscreen's effects on vitamin D might not be that important. An Australian study that's often cited showed no difference in vitamin D between adults randomly assigned to use sunscreen one summer and those assigned a placebo cream." -

To be honest I'm much more concerned with un-beneficial chemicals I'm breathing in than any that might leech into my body externally. And you're right, the most prudent approach is mild sun exposure. That's not always possible here though. -

Lol. That's hilarious. It's just an ad with spurious and misleading claims to sell their balm. Sunscreen "promotes cancer" but sun exposure doesn't apparently. Fortunately they have a product that somehow magically prevents sunburn. And if that doesn't work they have another product you can rub on your burnt skin. ???? I particularly like the product that's "A favorite with babies". And only $73.35 a pot! Pass -
The beauty of using an agent.

Does that 10T agent charge include the 1900 baht extension fee?
