Being drunk is no excuse in this case. Ok, we've all made bad life choices when drunk.... but no one could ever be drunk enough to think this is ok. Give him to the poor girl's family and don't expect to see him ever again.

I'm not trying to absolve anyone, Richard. All I'm saying is that the lynch mob are out, but we don't know the facts and seeing that one or more of the boys was ELEVEN would suggest that things aren't a normal peado rape, where all the perpetrators know what they're doing. All I'm saying is that this might not be as bad as many other things that happen here, and around the world, but everyone's crying gang rape.

I also have two teenage daughters and this is an appalling and awful situation. All I'm saying is that we don't know what actually happened, and it's not as if an adult or group of adults coerced the poor girls into a situation. If you took a girl on a date and things happened and then she decided that she was raped by YOU, when there's more to it than that, would YOU welcome the lynch mob before fact finding? No need to answer.

No victim blaming at all. How could anyone 'blame' a couple of 13 year old girls? I didn't say or do that.

DISCLAIMER: This is a terrible situation for all involved and sh*tty reflection on the world we live in today. But bear in mind that the boys were aged 11-15, meaning that they have a similar mental age / maturity as the victims. Did any of them really know what was planned or about to happen? I am NOT for one second condoning this, but kids have done stuff like this since the beginning of ciivilization. This is very different from adolescent or adult males doing it. Let's also not forget that women around the world appear to have the right to say 'ok,' and then half way through an act change their minds and all of a sudden it becomes rape. And I would say that SOME women don't verbally change their minds until after the event, when it suits them. All I'm saying is that the facts need to be taken into account before the lynch mobs come out with pitchforks.

I've been robbed by katoeys three times (that know of). #1 I was asleep on the kerbside and woke up to no wallet. Local taxi drivers suggested it was a ladyboy. Who knows? Not me #2 & #3 was in the street when they come up and say hello where you go and all of a sudden the wallet has gone. Both times I noticed and I FOOLISHLY smashed them in the face, after forcing them to give back the wallet that they claimed to know nothing about. Yes I was wrong to be so violent. A similar thing happened to me on Saturday night. I never get in parked taxis outside hotspots, and the one I got into I had hailed on the big road outside of Khao Sarn. Having lived here for nearly 25 years and done the same journey 100s of times, I knew what I was doing, even though I had had some beer. When I realised he hadn't turned the meter on, I decided to leave it until the end of the journey to discuss. I know the price (140-150B) and he said he had forgotten to turn it on, but asked for 300B. I videoed our 'conversation in Thai', threw 100B at him and walked out. They win some, they lose some. It's the same for passengers. At the end of the day, Bangkok taxis are incredibly cheap, and easy to find.

It must surely be a mistranslation. Innocence means 'didn't do anything wrong.' This guy has (in the eyes of the law) fulfilled his punishment for being 'guilty' and received a pardon. Quite different to be 'innocent.'
