  1. Nope, Webfact said it, the same source you trusted to speak for all tourists!
  2. Even those cannot be trusted, I wouldn't know one from a Thai Gym membership card!
  3. The tourists are objecting to safety patrols?
  4. Yet you fail to say what is their job and under whose authority you get to define what is their job.
  5. There are a lot of dodgy Visas out there granted during Covid... people became volunteers without doing anything, as an example. Visa categories where changed without leaving the country. A large number of people lived in Thailand on Covid extensions, which are no longer available. A lot of new businesses have sprung up post Covid, I suspect many were not safety inspected.. we had bars proclaiming to be restaurants ... not a gas ring in sight! The tourists are back, and a bit of hassle does not seem to bother them too much... except for a few cry-babies. It will die down....
  6. It is all very well, but not addressing the underlying and main issue.... their own staff are so often complicit in bypassing requirements for Extensions. It is always the foreigners who are the criminals and the Thai staff go on filling their pockets are innocents... They are not being manipulated by the foreigners.....they take their grease willingly.
  7. YOU asked the question...... It will all die down, happened before, a reset is needed after the Covid....
  8. They are not 'random streets'.... I haven't had them in mine. I have never ever been asked to show my passport in Pattaya on a night out. 18 years and counting! It happens in China, Russia, Honduras, Venezuela... lots of places. There are loads of tourists about, they seem to be handling it. This report seems to be more a check on the venues... personally I am pleased to see fire safety being checked... God forbid an incident like the Mountain B in town.
  9. Let us stop the situation at the point of danger and work back from there.
  10. I too often wish tourists and farangs did not think life in Thailand revolved around them! Those idiotic claims of bringing money into the country by drinking cheap beer in tatty bars and having the odd 200 baht barfine!
  11. Victim blaming really..... We are isolated from it, they seem to pick on Thais, but I get quite a few random phone calls, as does my Mrs. Yes some of the victims are naïve.
  12. Suggestions.....? We have a Forum that bangs on and on and on and on how Thai police do not do their jobs..... here we have them doing exactly that and people complain. They are sweeping up after Covid.....
  13. They really do not have to justify anything, it's business, supply and demand. You have to cover the cost of the paper hats and crackers.

Very practical, plenty pockets for all the bits and bobs!
  15. Is there such a thing as private beaches.....I thought they were all public land?
  16. The guy only has 20-odd posts and needs a clean pair of skivvies not more shxt from sarky posters!

  18. Cheap Charlie's maybe. Loads of fry up places around there.
  19. This happened in Thailand you know..... Are you telling us all weed is now addictive, as you would be going against general opinion. Like drug addicts make wise decisions!
  20. Soon after I arrived in Thailand I was advised setting up a direct debit to pay utilities was not a good idea, as they were difficult to cancel. So for a while it got paid at their office. Then along came the 7-11 or Tesco checkout option. Now my Bank app scans the QR-Code and it is done....
  21. It was, in the past, suggested to go to an agent first....or get out of dodge as you suggest. A visit to immigration, if already on overstay, and the Immigration police would likely arrest you and you would be spending a night in the detention centre. Many feared them getting their claws into them.
  22. Is it where the Doll House was originally?
  23. Yes, one can make a small fortune, if you start with a large one! Not going well for this guy,
  24. Yes I have always been amused by that, especially when a pal bought one! Since the kid sounded only slightly injured the choice is difficult, wait and be pilloried by relatives, or forced to hand over cash by police, everyone is awaiting this type of opportunity!
