It was standard for me growing up in the UK....
They have adopted it in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and the result is extremely low drunk driving deaths. Drink driving has become socially unacceptable in the UK now, but I just don't see that attitude becoming commonplace here, in the locals, and sadly many tourists and Expats.
You already state the number of road deaths is high here, do you expect removal of alcohol restrictions would reduce that, or increase the numbers.
