"She said the clinical doctor was uncertified and didn’t show any responsibility for his work."
Well Duh!!! Instead of researching the "doctor", she takes the advice of a friend with no medical training. One has to be an utter fool to not check up on the qualifications of a practitioner before undergoing any medical procedure. Especially when she probably chose this individual because he was the cheapest one she could afford..
That's why they have certification for many professions. To ensure professional and safety standards. Of course a medical procedure that introduces a foreign substance into the body can be dangerous, and even with the proper training and attention to professional standards, things can go wrong. With someone who is unqualified to perform this procedure (assuming that this is a legitimate procedure), there is a much greater chance of something going wrong.
Someone who has not gone through the process of proper training and certification is already exhibiting his lack of responsibility.
I feel bad for her, but undergoing a potentially dangerous elective medical procedure by an unqualified practitioner in order to meet the sexist standards of a shallow universal male ideal, shows a total lack of responsibility to oneself.

Apparently it's unbelievably horrible. I spoke to a bloke who was poleaxed for weeks and then knackered after that. I'd no idea it was this common.
Yes! I have also spoken to the survivors, people struck down with this horrible disease, and sadly had the poor ones been wealthy they might also very well be alive today.
I had Dengue fever about 20 years ago. The symptoms are back/neck ache and little bloody spots on the skin, as well as high fever and headache at certain times of the day. You certainly know about it, but I would not call it unbelievably horrible.
I was on an expatriate insurance, so money was not an object. Bumrungrad hospital told me it would take around 7-10 days to get a definitive test result, but most likely the disease will be on the way out after that time. They said it was almost certainly dengue fever. I declined the test, because there is no real point in it.
There is no cure however much money you have, but it is very unlikely to be fatal.

Did the market vendor get kicks to the head when he was down?
Did the alleged assailants call a wolfpack for assistance to beat the s**t out of the market vendor?
Did the police understand that they were prepared to settle for a sum?
Justice in Thailand is an ephemeral phantasma, only the rich and/or connected can afford it

Actually, western governments should issue travel advisories against visiting Thailand. How many tourists are killed in Somalia or Sudan? and how many in Thailand as a result of road carnage? a multiple I should think. The only way to get Thai government / bureaucracy to do anything is when their face.... "image" is on the block......

I think the fundamental problem is that city people in thailand have been highly exposed to lead poisoning for decades. It definitiely leads to problems with brain development, self control and low IQ.
It would explain many things about this country, including the disfunctional government and legal system, all drawn from BKK peopen, as well as an underclass unable to control their actions
Eddie61.. I was going to jump in and not favourably comment about your post but then got to thinking... the whole leather tannery industry as well as other industries is concentrated down there.. years ago I did some work down there and was revolted by the smell in the air and the heavy metal effluent that was directly discharged into the drains..... quite allot of red and yellow dyes used then and probably still now are lead and cadmium based ( even though the most of the world bans them)
So I change my thinking and give you this a high probability factor and in some ways does give I think a glimmer of insight .......
Don't ignore leaded petrol which was universal until about 10 years ago, and the fact that most commuters were exposed for 3-4 hours a day in buses. The damage is particularly heavy during the formative years of brain development. It would account for a generation of morons now aged about 20-40

Crackdown looms on Mafia-style influential figures
Jitraporn Senawong
The Nation
BANGKOK: -- THE nationwide crackdown on Mafia-style influential figures will be launched as soon as Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha signs an order to establish a committee to carry out the task, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan said yesterday.
Prawit said he would issue the operation's official order later yesterday or today after Prayut signs the appointment of the working committee, to be chaired by Prawit and comprising representatives from the National Council for Peace and Order, the Interior Ministry, the Royal Thai Police and related agencies.
Prawit said the policy would focus on the suppression of crimes featuring military-grade weapons. He also revealed that the government was considering introducing a law to prohibit the carrying of weapons. He said Mafia-style figures at entertainment venues would also be investigated and, if any military or police personnel were found to be involved, their supervisors would also be held accountable, he added.
In related news, Police Commissioner General Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda yesterday said he was ready to cooperate with the nationwide crackdown on Mafia-style influential figures.
He said the police force had some information on the influential figures in question and was waiting for Prawit to call another meeting on the matter. Police have also started monitoring big cities such as Chon Buri, Phetchaburi, Lop Buri and Chai Nat, which were known to have many influential figures, he said.
At a Cabinet meeting last Tuesday, Prayut issued a six-month deadline for related authorities to rid the country of Mafia-style influential figures, be they politicians, soldiers, police or bureaucrats.

Fair warning, my dear gentlemen of the mafia: it is last orders now, so please take your ill gotten gains and stash them in Singapore, (though that is becoming problematic, as we all know!). If you do need advice on this, our agents are always happy to assist you.
Please take your time to drink up though: we gentlemen in green don't like to disturb our fellow gentlemen of the mafia, or indeed our senior gentlemen in brown.
We shall soon be conducting a "crack-down" on your operations, and we should be thoroughly disappointed if our "crackdown" reveals any links to our operations.
Given our past cooperation, please do excuse this temporary interruption of business. We will naturally do our best not to disturb VIP members of our club, though some of their junior staff may spend some time in less pleasant surroundings. We will keep you informed of operations well ahead of time, so as to avoid inconvenience to members.
You can trust us to normalise the situation as soon as the peasants have stopped being revolting.

The boys in green won't be around long enough to implement their pie in the sky idea(l)s...
I think they will know when their day is done...... as usual, when the problems they have created get beyond them, and require a "democratic" government to shoulder the blame again.

Well, since the same army was duped into buying coke cans with straws as sophisticated bomb detectors, I have no doubt the hackers are quaking in their flip flops!

Only 13 firms out of 6000? They obviously did not look hard, thus is this really a crackdown?

Wow, five pages of posts by people who most likely never go to national parks more than once or twice a year, if ever.
Good to see real issues like female circumcision and throwing homosexuals off rooftops in Iran haven't been forgotten about.
Well I suggest you start a thread about female circumcision or flat homos in Iran if that floats your boat.. This particular thread is about double pricing, in case your obviously limited reading skills did not lead you to that conclusion!

There are several places I have never been to. The emerald Buddha, and Sukhothai spring to mind. Once I took a company outing to Sukhothai and 40 people left without entering the ruins because they sensed my fury at being overcharged.
I have never been to Suan Nongnuch, or the Sanctuary of Truth for similar reasons. I have never accepted double pricing in national parks largely because the "farang allawad" parking his car at the entry gate was blocking traffic. I asked the highest official in the park to explain the law to me which required him to come to the gate, and he let me through, so as not to make a scene. Actually, money has nothing to do with it.
I am certain the Thai businessman driving a BMW right behind me was richer than me, but paid less tax.
I think many will think that I am nuts, but I do have certain values on which I will not compromise.
Please let me know if I am mistaken, aside from Tourists, but regarding Foreigners who live here, do you not pay the Thai price if you show a Thai driving license or yellow book?
It really depends on who is sitting in the ticket office. Some places will let you in at the Thai price and others absolutely refuse.
What is the purpose of charging foreigners more? Pure greed? It certainly isn't because we make more mess.
Is it to provide foreigners with more service? I doubt it.
Recently we were a group of foreigners, together with Thai government officials on a cultural visit to Ayutayha. We wanted to visit one of the museums and despite serious arguments from the Thai officials they refused to let the foreigners in at the Thai rate. We paid the 200 Baht.
The question is What on earth did we pay for? Everything inside was written in Thai and although there were a few electronic playback devices allowing foreigners to listen in English, not one of them worked.
Several of the technical exhibition pieces (slide shows etc.) didn't work either. Even if we had paid 20 baht it would have been a waste of money.

no its not corruption...
Despite being underpaid, they are geniuses with an investment portfolio, and end up with millions when they all eventually get to staff rank.
Coincidentally, they have an aircraft carrier with no aircraft, tanks with cracks, bomb detectors that don't detect anything, not even the stench of corruption, and soon submarines that probably have to be deployed in the atlantic.
That is strategy.....no not corruption... no no no
