  1. Thanks. After I posted I decided to brave the True website and as you say it requires a "box". I got used to just streaming back home in Australia (Netflix, Amazon and Kayo Sports) so I forgot about those silly boxes. I've got a few options now so hopefully I can get something sorted before the real matches begin ????
  2. Oh now that's just rude! They could have just offered you a one-time WC package for a reasonable price and made some money rather than a big fat zero.
  3. 299 baht just for the duration of the WC, or on an ongoing basis/contract?
  4. Again, can I get an unbuffered UHD/HDR stream using such a box? If so where do I sign up?
  5. This is why the dirty cash is still useful. Too easy for the fantastic plastic to fail. I usually bring a couple grand cash with me just in case. Except when I came in last December to do the agent thing like you. I forgot to go to the ATM at SYD and totally didn't realise it until I landed in BKK with no cold hard cash in mah pocket ????
  6. This has been happening in Thailand for ages mate, why are you surprised? tbh I don't know how they pick their targets. Local police know what's what so when the big boss Pol Maj Gen from Region 2 comes in to "take over" does he tell the locals to cough up a few names for show or does he get his boys to do some actual legwork? Clubs that flaunt closing times are a good target for drug raids. Once you get on the drugs you want to party all night so it makes sense that you'd find more drug takers at such places. As opposed to say, the Christian Science Reading Room. I stopped taking illicit drugs a long time ago and even if I were to start again these Thai clubs don't float my boat. So I have no reason to try and figure out what the best tactic is if you're caught up in a raid. But from what I've picked up over the years you don't have much of a choice, especially in this case where the Regional police big boss is on some kind of holy mission.
  7. I expect you'll be told that you are a troll who is making up stories to increase your post count.
  8. Google translate...???? "Nopp.Region 2 Join the Pattaya police. Invade to catch a barbarian pub. Violate open bracing during the mocking of the law. Meet hundreds of male and female travelers, 16 purple pee, taken aback, found the driganyan book every morning. Prepare to offer the governor a permanent shut Buri"
  9. she was flat out on a stretcher mate so pretty hard for the journo to interrogate the poor dear. I doubt they'll do a follow up unless we pester them to.
  10. Have you looked at their website yet? Goodness me what a disaster. OP should really do some legwork and browse the last 3 pages of this forum. There are a couple of recent-ish posts from Canadiennes who have applied for Tourist Visas. I forget the dates or the titles but I think the posters were CanadianSnowbird, DezLez and dj230.
  11. I guess what I meant was, is it a Centrelink rule or something that the politicians came up with? I've never really delved that deep into it as I'm still a few years away from the pension age and with luck my investment plan will mean I won't qualify for it.
  12. Is it Centrelink or Canberra? I still don't get why you have to be in Australia to get something your taxes have paid for. Because they're afraid of all that money leaving the country? They should worry more about what Choina's gunna do with all that iron ore that Gina and Twiggy are digging up and sending to them by the shipload.
  13. And if you don't have much money then you find out pretty quickly how cruel this world can be. The story says the Australian Embassy has been contacted and hopefully they can help her out. With luck they'll live to the reputation they created for themselves in "The Embassy" TV show that was on Channel 9 a few years back. https://www.newmandala.org/the-embassy-a-review/
  14. Where can I get unbuffered UHD/HDR stream of the World Cup? I've got 500/500 True fibre but they didn't send me any offers and I CBF looking for ways to get high-def stream of the games.
  15. Think of it this way ... anyone who used one of the current crop emojis for that post is what I refer to as "ignore fodder". These people have no souls, best to hide anything that they have to say... https://aseannow.com/ignore
  16. No it was you that said it was made up by a Thai journalist, ie. fake. Even if it was made up I'd still believe it over anything you've got to say.
  17. I've been reading this and other forums for about 20 years now. In that time I haven't read all that many reports from people claiming they were randomly stopped by the cops and asked to produce their passport. When it does come up it seems to be, as usual, all about location, location, location. Eg. many years ago there were a bunch of reports on here of members getting hassled by the cops in a specific area of Thonglor. Iirc Big Jok might have shut that nonsense down. On the very first page of this thread, RafPinto says he was recently stopped whilst out driving in Pattaya and asked for his passport (DL not good enough). Sounds like he might have got caught up in Pol Maj Gen Suwanlaong's little "crackdown". I simply refuse to believe that all those reports are made up. If that's the case then every word on this forum is a lie. So there's no doubt in my mind that from time to time foreigners will be randomly stopped and asked for their passport, even though I have never been asked myself. I did however show a policeman at an APEC checkpoint a photo of my passport on my phone (I don't have a DL etc), and the swipe card from my condo. I don't really care for trying to be difficult in those types of situations so I had the pic ready as the motosai was pulling up to the checkpoint.
  18. That hotandsticky fella says it's fake because it's Thai journalism. Apparently I'm meant to independently verify every word that is said in the press and on this forum.
  19. Well apparently that article is fake news so you just broke the forum rules too.
  20. TPN is co-owned by a farang. I've got just was much reason to believe his media outlet as I do anything that you post in here.
