  1. I'm looking at my December 2021-issued TM6 now, cannot see a field for departure date.
  2. According to the articles I read following a Google search it is not possible to register your place if it's a multi-dwelling building such as a condo. Supposedly only homes and villas gain apply for an exception under The Hotels Act.
  3. Oh I don't think he paid those silly fees, they were just quotes he was getting at his departure airport. If he took the advice on here and changed his money at Supperrich in the basement of Swampy then he's well ahead. Enough to buy a month's worth of ya dong ????
  4. Can you please translate the Thai script for me Joe? What does the letter in front of 30/45 in the "Visa Class" section mean?
  5. That's correct but it is only until from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023. Perhaps they extend the program if it proves to be successful.
  6. It could be mislaid national pride, resentment, boredom, sheer wilfulness or any number of other reasons. But I reckon they must get a great kick out of doing it. Imagine being the significant other of one of the types and having to listen to all the war stories at the dinner table? ????
  7. It's that a rhetorical question or would actually like to who writes the headlines? (or at least who I think writes the headlines).
  8. Oh, I think I quoted you instead of that odious bob 'bluster' smith fella. But you're right, the constant "they're out to get us because we're farang" refrain in here is past it's use by date.
  9. Yes, we should consider it normal and acceptable behaviour otherwise we'll go mad trying to fight it ???? Blaming the end user is of course ridiculous and you're right to get upset about that.
  10. Thanks for the explanation, it's starting to make more sense now. Usually people who intend to do out/in border bounces don't plan for contingencies like getting denied re-entry to Thailand and may not have the resources to make it from the border to Phnom Penh for a tourist visa etc They don't want to strand the guy in rural Cambodia with no chance of getting back in so refusing exit is the order of two evils.
  11. except that in this situation, ie. Region 2 boss flexing in Pattaya, he is reported as saying that a copy is acceptable.
  12. you don't think she planned it to railroad the guy off his property?
  13. Have you been reading about the raids in Bangkok on the late-night karaoke joints? It seems taking illicit drugs here is all the rage now with a certain type of tourist. Mainland Chinese I believe, they seem to like a good party just as much as the next man. Ketamine was one drug that was mentioned recently, they mix it with water and call it Happy Drink or something. I've heard some horror stories about the Special K, wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
  14. A copy will suffice. You can get miniature laminated copies made up at a photo shop. Passport photo page on one side, permission to stay stamp on the other. Or you could keep a copy on your phone. Worked for me the other night when I got stopped at an APEC checkpoint at the end of my soi.
  15. I did it when I was younger. It was fun at the time but I'm not sure how I'd have handled it if I'd gotten caught up in a raid. I was a poor, scruffy bagpacker and I wouldn't have had the readies to be able to wriggle out of it ????
  16. That might be the technical answer for air entry but in practice the IOs will eventually give you grief about it if you "stay too long".
  17. New boss of Region 2 flexing according to the videos narrated by Adam. I'm unfamiliar with police regions so I had to look it up. If Wikipedia is correct, wow, that's a big zone...8 provinces. "Region 2—covering provinces: Chanthaburi Trat Sa Kaeo Chachoengsao Prachinburi Chonburi Rayong Nakhon Nayok"
  18. Tourists don't even know this place exists mate. As for potential holiday-makers reading the Pattaya News ... keep dreaming.
  19. Thankfully it's over and done with now and I can safely order Grab food at night without it being delayed by road closures and checkpoints. I had to go out and hunt down my pizza the other night, the cops decided to park ALL their minivans in my soi and the Grab guy got stuck behind one of them. Needless to say it was cold by the time I got it back to the room ????
  20. Well I'm glad to hear it's a bit more civilized these days. I had to get off the bus at Ekkamai because some stupid foreigner (not farang) was sitting in someone else's seat and refused to move despite being asked by the ticket lady. She ended up in tears because of the way he was talking to her. I didn't want to be on a bus for two hours with such a horrible person so I got off and caught the next bus. Then I never took another Ekkamai bus after that for twenty-odd years ????
